Brewed for the 5 year anniversary of BeerTemple, Amsterdam. American North-West double IPA 8% abv, 75ebu, 15ebc with 5 hops for each year BeerTemple: simcoe, chinook, citra, amarillo & columbus.
The Big Fat 5 is the housebeer for the BeerTemple but also available at the other Morebeer Bars; Proeflokaal Arendsnest, 'cause BEER loves FOOD and Craft & Draft.
To celebrate the 5th anniversary of the BeerTemple, we asked Robbert Uyleman of Brewery ’t Uiltje to make an IPA with us for this special occasion! Dry-hopped to the bone, and as fresh as it can be! Straight from the tank into the kegs, transported with a refrigerated truck and into our own fridge, this IPA will never lose his bitter coolness before you start drinking...

Coppery color, white head with good retention. Aroma has notes of resins, pine, bitter orange peel. Flavor has a decent bitterness, mainly grapefruit and orange, good maltiness with slightly caramelish hints. Bittery and malty final.

On tap at BeerTemple Amsterdam. Clear amber pour with a fine-grained white head. Hop explosion in the aroma, with tropical fruits, citrus and honey. The taste follows the same notes, super fresh and balanced. New rating: Bottle at home. Exp date: 04 MAR’17. Clear golden with honey-like hue and a thin clear white head. Sweet caramel malts, loads of marijuana flavored hops but not extremely bitter. Sweet exotic fruitiness, peach, and lot of pine resin. Medium sweet and over medium bitter. Full body, velvet smooth mouthfeel, very slick texture with some light chalkiness. Soft carbonation and amazing sweet honey-like finish. Oh man! This is so nice, like sucking honey from a tit. Shit is crazy tasty. I was wondering if my old rating would hold up, but I’m actually raising it with 0.1 out of pure joy.. Old rating: From tap at Uiltje Bar. Knoepert van een hopbom. Wachten op de mannen. Score: 8/3/8/4/18 : 4.1 Backlog from 2015/04/22.

Thick, bit fluffy stable head over faintly veiled orange-amber beer. Fragrant, aromatic fruity hops, lychee, rosewater, dry hopbales, ureum. Sweet, hoppy, dry hopbales, again rosewater & lychee. Very slick, medium bodied, medium carbonation. Quite decent, superb nose, but the beer is nowhere as dry as the blurb suggests.

Caña en alt strasse Gijón el 05-09-2015. Color amarillento turbio con espuma blanca. (r94). Aromas y sabores maltosos bastante dulces afrutados tropicales. Cuerpo intenso espumoso y denso. Bastante buena. Para repetir sin duda.

12/08/2015 - 33cl bottle @Erwin’s boat on the Schelde. Thanks for sharing. Great evening Hazy orange with white foam. Aroma : what a smell, overwhelming fruit, pine and other exotic fruits. Taste : a lot of fruits and a bit hops. Very refreshing and as the last bear, completely cleaned the palate

0.33 l bottle from De Bierkoning, best before 6/1/2016. Clear, golden orange with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, white head. Intense, fruity-resiny aroma of passion fruit, mango, pine, tangerine and orange. Slightly bitter, fruity-resiny taste of passion fruit, mango, tangerine, pine and orange, followed by a rather long, medium bitter and dry finish. Medium body, slightly creamy and effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very fruity without being too bitter or too malty, no signs of the abv. Very drinkable and refreshing but not as outstanding as expected.
