Our first dark beer is a complex stout with seven different grains making up it’s grist and a decent charge of fruity Admiral hops to give some balance, plus a bottle of dealcoholised Port per nine for richness.

Hand bottle at home ... deep brown black ... no head ... soft roast malts ... hint of run and chocolate nose ... soft fruity roast malts ... some sour raisin ... light chocolate ... light bitter back bone ... but decent roast ... again a little thin probably from the hand bottling ... but once again a totaly drinkable pint.

Cask-conditioned at the Wenlock Arms, London 11/02/10. Almost black with a slight tan head. Big aroma of black coffee, chocolate and fruits, both dark and a hint of orange. Full, slightly vinous mouth feel, with more chocolate and fruit and a lingering, charred finish. Very enjoyable.
