A lightly hazed copper lager with a thin creamy light moka head. Light smoked peaty aroma over herbal malts, light signs of oxidation. In mouth, a sweet malt with nice smoked notes, light and pleasant. Medium bodied. Bottle from Half Time, from a mix 12 pack, July 2008, tasted Oct. 21 2009.

12 oz. bottle. Dark amber color, big head the shortly fizzes away. Smell has a hint of smoke, but not cheesy or bacony. Definite wood smoke in the taste, though. There is also some malt and hops in play, a bit more than in other rauchs where smoke seems to be the only flavor component. Label describes history of smoking malt over beechwood. I think I catch a bit of mesquite, myself. It’s pretty nice, interesting, but not something I’d want every day.

Quickly descending head leaves lacing. Amber body. Slight smoky aroma. The best thing about this beer is that it is a rauchbier and I love rauchbiers, but ultimately, it is not as good as what comes from Aecht. Meat, BBQ, and smoked malt flavors dominate in this beer.

Part of the totally and completely made up"The Geororodanda Beer Sampling Party"

Aroma: Smells exactly like beef jerky
Appearance: Clear red/orange color, 1-2 in white head
Flavor: Smokey and sweet malts
Palate: Light with a crisp flavor, a smooth beer
Overall Impression: This beer was alright, but I found it hard to get over the beef jerky smell.

Courtesy of SeaBass. Pours clear copper with micro white head. The aroma has even yet nearly understated smoke to go along with sweet sugar malts, a bit of grain and hints of corn. The taste is very much the same with a very pleasing combination of understated smooth smoke mixing with crystal malts, malt sweetness, a touch or two of grain and a sense of corn kernels. Nice well balanced stuff.

Pours copper, beige head. Aroma lightly smoky, malts and light caramel, Taste is malty, sweet notes of smoke with a light floral hoppy aftertaste. The smoke linger sin the background and never really comes to forward. Well balanced nothing being too forward and the smoke not really taking away from the overall palate.

Bottle, courtesy of Butters, partially to make up for the Tequiza previously forced upon me on 08/12/2008. Clear copper amber body with a medium creamy off-white head. Sweet smoked malt aroma with hints of ham and salt. Smoked malt flavor, some faint caramel. Medium body with moderate carbonation with a very smooth gentle smokey finish.
