This is one half of a Black and Tan. Not just any Black and Tan, but the one where a hoppy smug and a toasted fella get together to make a sublime Taiji balance. Mix the Yin & Yang together (or enjoy this flipping good Imperial IPA solo).

Reviewed from notes.
Can to tulip.
Appearance: bright copper color with a finger's worth of white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: tropical fruit cup of hops with some red grapefruit and some sugars; clean caramel/toffee malts
Flavor: meshes the prior noted aromas to a fine bittersweet blend; finishes tropical fruity and malty
Texture: medium bodied, leaning towards being a sipper; slight smooth capabilities
Overall: not a bad TIPA, perhaps I could come back to this.

An absolute flavour bomb of an imperial. A range of elements create an intriguing complexity. Caramel, balancing fruity hops, toffee, a warming liqueur and roasted malt. One of the best

Draught from Taproom. Orangey red pour. Lots of earthy scents. Some malts as well. Hoppy finish.

Bottle at home. Aroma is fruity hops, sweetish tropical fruits, grapefruit, biscuit malt, citrus, bitter orange peel, mild candied fruits. Flavour is moderate sweet with a rather bitter finish. A little alcohol noticeable. Body is above medium. Very nice, lots of sweetish juicy fruits with a potently bitter flavour, an excellent sippin’ IIPA that would have been even greater, were it not for the booziness.

Backlog September 2011. Amber body under a small beige head. Strong aroma of citric fruit, grapefruit, resin and caramel malt. Taste is sweet caramel malt, citric fruit and strong, sharp bitterness. Fine body with a distinct, strong bitter aftertaste. Solid and nice.

Bottle. Pours hazy amber with a thick slightly off-white head. Aromas of grassy hops, slight caramel malt. Some citrus and orange peel. It’s not that strong. Sadly I didn’t drink this fresh. Taste is quite the same. Bit alcoholic. More caramel.

Keg at Brewdog Camden. Red brown amber colour with very little head. Aroma, cat pee hops, bit b.o., spicy and a hit of booze. Taste is full on malty, hoppy bitterness. Not too much prickle in the mouth, quite thick, almost liqueur like. Sweet and spiky, and a bit of a warmer. Lovely.

Bottle. Dark amber color. Grapefruit, melon and oily hops in the aroma. Oily hopbitter flavor, with loads of dried tropical fruit . Sweetish. Alcohol, tobacco and cedar. Long aftertaste, but deceptively drinkable.
