This is one half of a Black and Tan. Not just any Black and Tan, but the one where a hoppy smug and a toasted fella get together to make a sublime Taiji balance. Mix the Yin & Yang together (or enjoy this flipping good Imperial IPA solo).

Aus der Flasche im 2018-01 getrunken. Eine kräftige Hopfenbitterkeit wird von ein ganz leichten alkoholischen Süße gemildert. Ist nicht ganz so mein Ding, ist aber trinkbar.

355ml bottle (2015) from Bliznetsy in Moscow. Pours opaque orange with a large off-white head. Aroma is stale malt, caramel, tangerine, pine. Taste is medium sweet and heavy bitterness, alcohol, caramel, candy. Eh, not sure if it tastes like this because of its advanced age. Can’t say I enjoyed it.

Bottle from BottleDog, London, and shared at Dan’s. Pours hazy golden amber with a lasting off-white head. Aroma of hop, caramel, citrus fruit, pine, and leather. Medium plus sweetness, light bitterness. Medium body, sticky texture, average to soft carbonation.

Nose is weak, but the pour’s godlike in its beauty. Monstrous malt-heavy hop bomb, dripping with resinous pine and caramel, deep and semisweet with a slight orange-citrus undertone. Comes across a bit simple, what with the moderate sweetness and massive bitter finish, kind of like a bigger, meaner Dale’s. Apricots and pine needles on the finish, and once again the booze is undetectable. Better when atop its counterpart, but Yang’s not bad on its own.

Pours golden amber with an inch of beige head. Aroma is citrus, mango, perhaps some tobacco (this must be on my mind - 3 times today I smell tobacco in my beer). Flavor is bittersweet fruit - peach or mango, grapefruit peel, light pine turning thicker in the finish. Nice. Sticky.

Tap at beerlovers. Pours darker blonde to amber. Smell is intense, bit hoppy, malty, bit bitter. Taste is aromatic, hoppy, very malty, intense. Almost like a barleywine.

Very hazy orange and copper coloured with a thin, fast-dying tan head. Aroma of honey, earth, yeast, apricots, citrus and a ton of resin throughout. Medium-bodied; Assertive grassy and resin flavours at first with a big dose of alcohol and dry malt coupled with some fruity elements of apricots, pears and apples and ending with a dry, honey and lightly hoppy and bitter flavour. Aftertaste shows some grain and dry grass, coupled with a resinous and piney flavour and ending with a good deal of alcohol and some sweet honey flavours. Overall, a decent Imperial IPA with some nice flavours and bitterness, but nothing special here nor worth searching after. I sampled this alongside the Evil Twin Yin, and preferred that one to this beer, in their respective styles. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from The Crystal City Wine Shop (20th Street Location) in Arlington, Virginia on 28-April-2015 for US$3,99 sampled at home in Washington on 05-Februay-2017.

Draft at FOB, Rimini, Italy. Color is amber/copper, with moderately gross white foam. Aroma is a wonderful mix of licorice, caramel, honey. Taste is sweeter than bitter. Palate seems sweet when beer is colder, but as it warms a bittersweet feeling arises. Overall, a very nice beer. -- rated with beerbasher/winphone
