Launched in 1927 by Colonel Jim Porter after three years of development, the 1960 merger of Newcastle Breweries with Scottish Brewers afforded the beer national distribution and sales peaked in the United Kingdom during the early 1970s. The brand underwent a resurgence in the late 1980s and early 1990s. By the late 1990s, the beer was the most widely distributed alcoholic product in the UK. Brewing moved in 2005 from Newcastle to Dunston, Tyne and Wear and in 2010 to John Smiths Brewery in Tadcaster.

Creamy tan head stayed well on mahogany coloured still body. Malt, spice & berry aroma. Medium bodied, soft on the palate with a tickle down the throat & a clean aft. Heavy caramel tastes with malt, demerara, berry & spices.

Inspired the easiest beers I haven’t rated thread grabbed from market. Can’t recall having before but I’m sure I did at some point in drinking career. More clear amber than brown. Nose is sweet toffee touch of nuttiness. Tastes of caramel, fig, nuts, malt and rootbeer. Watery and flat palate. No bitterness. Probably be another decade or so before revisiting.

Íze sima, kerek, karamelles, édeskés, aszaltszilvás, némi komlósság is vegyül bele. Nemzetközi nagyüzemi sör léttére egész jó. Több összetevő feleslegesnek tűnik...

It has a very nice color, so it's worth buying ... its head is also beautiful and durable. The aroma is not special, malty beer scent. The taste is smooth, round, caramelized, sweet, prunes, and some hops. The existence of macro- beer is quite good. More ingredients seem redundant ...
