Full of character, Mc CHOUFFE delights lovers of dark beer all over the world. Its distinctive flavour, its dark ruby colour and its fine creamy head make it a unique beer. Mc CHOUFFE is also characterised by its spicy aniseed and liquorice flavours, superbly complemented by full-bodied caramel notes. Despite its robustness, Mc CHOUFFE is surprisingly smooth. It even reveals delicious fruity notes, especially pear, as well as a very slight hint of bitterness at the end of the palate. With its 8% alcohol content, like LA CHOUFFE, Mc CHOUFFE is appreciated with the same lightness as its big blond sister.

Pours reddish brown. Head is rocky and tan. Aroma is caramel, cola gummy, sweet spice (cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg). Mouth is fizzy, heavy, metallic and bitterless. Abrupt finish.

Appearance is a dark, ruby red, with a big foamy 2-3 finger beige head which hangs around. Aroma- raisin, brown bread, cherry, vinous, sweet fruits, toffee apple. Taste- hop bitterness, boozy dark fruits- raisin, sultana, banana towards the finish, stewed apple, hint of rhubarb, cherry, nutty, bitter finish, breads malt. Complex stuff, very good.

0,33 l bottle from EDEKA Mohr, best before 30/11/2016. Clear, dark red with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, tan to white head, leaving heavy lacings on the glass. Pleasant aroma of raisins, blackberry, cane sugar, citrus, prunes and toffee with hints of coconut. Rich, sweetish-sourish taste of raisins, prunes, toffee, cane sugar, molasses and wood. Medium long, slightly bitter and a little warming, gently alcoholic finish. Medium to full body, smooth and creamy texture, lively carbonation. Nice sipper, not really tailor-made for spring, but still refreshing due to its light acidity. A bit of a shy aroma, but as heavy and rich in taste as expected. Good!

Dark amber color with big beige head and amber highlights. Aroma is very Belgian. Good amount of spicy yeasts, good malt, flowery. Taste is balanced, malty, spicy, sweet, a bit toffee. Carbonation is not too high, unlike many Belgians. Pleasant flowery finish. Superb Belgian Strong. Nothing to criticize, but also nothing that makes it *very* special. Still deserves this high rating.

Lightly hazy amber beer, good cream coloured head. Palate is airy with good fine carbonation. Light creamy malts, trace of caramel. Mild ripe generic fruits. Trace of spice. Soft finish. Decent.

Bottle. First time I have drunk this in a long long time. Nose is very nutty, slight caramel, some celler, touch of toffee, malt, hint of smoke. Taste is toffee, nut, emerging caramel, honey, brown sugar, some raisin and stewed apple, touch of orange, some spices. Mouthfeel is too carbonated. Nice to revisit, but I’ve remembered while it’s an occasional friend. The beer is to sweet and too thin, giving a slightly sickly edge which detracts.

Slightly hazy copper, small, airy offwhite head. Malty aroma with dried fruit notes and alcohol. Fruity, acetic flavour, apples and berries. Caramely maltyness as well. Creamy, fluffy mouthfeel. Nice.
