Barbe d'Or is one of the four Barbe beers. The name of the range of Barbe beers refers to the Liège brewery "Barbe d'Or". The Brasserie Barbe d'Or was a medieval brewery in the old town from Liège (Belgium) and belonged to the "de Romsée" family, an old Liégeoise family whose coat of arms adorns the logo of "Barbe" beers.
Barbe d'Or is a top fermented golden blonde ale with a rich, bitter sweet taste. The slightly roasted malts give the beer its blond color and rich flavor. The carefully selected hops are responsible for its bitter and refreshing taste. The Barbe d'Or has an original density is 16 Hl°Plato.

(bottle, 33cl) Clear, golden colour with a blond and thick foamy head. Biscuity (cara-)malty aroma with herbal hops and a tinge of sourness. Moderately sweet flavour, medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Malt-accented biscuity and buttery taste with shy fruity notes; sweet malty and minimally bitter hoppy finish with traces of alcohol. 13.X.11

draft @ Delirium, Brussels. Dorée/orangée, col blanc. Arôme de malt léger pale, levure et houblon, garde ce nez belge typique avec ce fini levure et renfermé. En bouche, profile malté assez agréable allant vers un caramel doux grillé, le tout avec un houblon épicé. Levure reste présente avec en retrait un houblon fleuri et fruité léger tropical et agrumes. Grain, sec, et pointe épice sur la fin. Ne le fait pas trop à mon goût, seul le malt sort cette dernière de la banalité.

Bottled. An amber beer with an off-white head. The aroma has notes of caramel and fruits. The flavor is very sweet with notes of malt and caramel, leading to a dry and alcoholic finish. Thanks yespr for sharing.

On tap at De Heeren van Liederkercke. deep golden colour with an off-white head. Aroma is malt, grain, sugar. flavour is sweet, malt, grain, alcohol, sugar, malt, hop. Medium body. OK beer.

Bottle 330ml. @ home on the terrace.Clear medium yellow orange colour with a large to huge, frothy, good lacing, mostly to fully lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, grain, hay, pale malt, light to moderate hoppy, fruity, light to moderate yeasty, spicy. Flavour is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration, spicy, hops, fresh, fruity. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20110726]

33 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden orange with a small white head. Aroma is yeasty and dry phenolic. Slight plastic note. Sweet, light fruity, caramelish and slight bitterness lurking through. Ends mild fruity and light fruity finish.

Huge, towering off-white head, leaving classic lacepatterns over orange-golden, well-carbonated beer. Nose carries acetic & lactic acids, garden herbs, and everytime reverts to lactic/milky streaks - and alcohol. Bit burnt flavour, milk (boiled over?), pale malts; no sourness, however, despite the threats emanating from the nose. Bit sharpish MF, medium bodied, certain slickness, tangible carbonation. The nose promised pure Verhaeghe. The rest proved they did everything humanly possible to suppress that. As to the idea?
