Barbe d'Or is one of the four Barbe beers. The name of the range of Barbe beers refers to the Liège brewery "Barbe d'Or". The Brasserie Barbe d'Or was a medieval brewery in the old town from Liège (Belgium) and belonged to the "de Romsée" family, an old Liégeoise family whose coat of arms adorns the logo of "Barbe" beers.
Barbe d'Or is a top fermented golden blonde ale with a rich, bitter sweet taste. The slightly roasted malts give the beer its blond color and rich flavor. The carefully selected hops are responsible for its bitter and refreshing taste. The Barbe d'Or has an original density is 16 Hl°Plato.

Flasche (33 cl). - Goldgelb, klar. Leicht parfümige, süßliche Nase. Antrunk fruchtig obergärig, leicht süßlich. Schwach zitronige Hopfenherbe. Stark rezent, schaumig. Im Abgang bitterer als erwartet mit krautigen, zitronigen Hopfenaromen. - Der Hopfen rettet dieses Bier, das sonst nur ein gewöhnliches, stärkeres Blondes wäre.

Aroma is a bit dusty and skunky yeast. Flavour is overall very sweet and some slightly numbing clove comes through too.

Bottle @ home. Clear yellow / golden color, huge rough white head. Not much aroma, just some malts and yeast. Taste malts, yeast, butter. Nah doesn’t seem right to me. Low carbo, low body.

bottle from Tanakaya. Malty, fruity aroma. Grains, bread, orange. A bit bland. Gold and clear with a huge head. Somewhat sweet, malty, bread and light sweet citrus. Plus a little grass. Little hop character, though the finish is bitter in a somewhat muddy way. Just very malty and rather uninteresting. Some minerals too. A bit Boring, but ok.

Bottled@Quinns, London. Amber colour, small white head. Aroma is fruits, some toasted notes, mild rubber and some alcohol. Flavour is floral, fruity, wooden, yeasty and also shows the signs of alcohol. Alcohol is too evident to make this a pleasant brew.
