Barbe d'Or is one of the four Barbe beers. The name of the range of Barbe beers refers to the Liège brewery "Barbe d'Or". The Brasserie Barbe d'Or was a medieval brewery in the old town from Liège (Belgium) and belonged to the "de Romsée" family, an old Liégeoise family whose coat of arms adorns the logo of "Barbe" beers.
Barbe d'Or is a top fermented golden blonde ale with a rich, bitter sweet taste. The slightly roasted malts give the beer its blond color and rich flavor. The carefully selected hops are responsible for its bitter and refreshing taste. The Barbe d'Or has an original density is 16 Hl°Plato.

Bottle. Crystal clear golden with white head and some big bubbles. Lots of sweet grains, cardboard, honey, light yeast and spicy cakes. Sour apricots and red apple. Medium sweet, very light sour and bitter. Medium bodied with slick feel and fizzy carbonation. The fruityness is nice but otherwise not good at all.

33cl bottle shared by Arve_Christian - thanks a lot! Pours clear golden with a white head. Fruity and acidic with somewhat vinous or at least cider like notes. Medium sweet and quite fruity with fermented apples, some acidity and a light bitterness. Somewhat refreshing, but not quite my style.

(Bottle, Delirium Café, Brussels, 25 Oct 2014) Pale golden colour with frothy, white head. Fruity, malty nose with notes of tropical fruit, canned pineapple and a fairly sharp malt character. Malty, fruity taste with tropical fruit, pineapple, peaches, marzipan, candy sugar and a certain alcohol bite in the finish. Balanced spicy bitterness. More than medium body, with a certain sweetness. Possibly a bit sharp and unbalanced, but quite tasty and nice.

Bottle . Pours clear blonde . Ok white foam fades fast . Smell is rather sweet, yeasty . Taste is bitter, with a really interesting and unique fruity note . Is this the yeast ? It reminds me of duchesse de bourgogne. Tastes kindof colapse for me, but all the aspects are very nice . Certainly unique . Weird beer , that is hard to rate .

Strong ale which joined Verhaeghe’s old ’oud bruin’ range since 2009. Firm, off-white head on a warm amber robe with copper hue. Aroma nutty, caramel, mandarin, grassy hops, nutmeg, parsil; taste begins subduedly fruity with citrus touch (orange peel), some green apple, nutty maltiness and finishing in a dry, medium hop bitterness. Straightforward.

Fruitig bier met licht bittere/hoppige nasmaak. Nadronk blijft lang hangen. Mooie lichte goudkleur. Etiket is inmiddels iets aangepast.
