McEwan’s Export is perhaps the world’s best-travelled beer. First brewed to quench the thirst of those toiling under the hot Indian sun, it was labelled Export and the name stuck. The sun might not belt down quite the same in Scotland, but we know a refreshing beer when we taste one – Export is today the no.1 supermarket selling ale in in its homeland.
This beer began its life in the 1860s, when its casks would be loaded onto sailing ships for a 5,000-mile journey to India. There it was unloaded on a sun-drenched wharf and sent inland to reward the thirsty workers.
McEwan’s Export does the same noble job today, and is still known worldwide for its hearty character.

Can, 0.5l. Deep amber/copper pour, half finger soapy off-white head, medium lasting. Good lacing on the glass. Grassy, herbal nose, earthy, wet grass, cardboard. Caramel in the background. Medium body, soft carbonation. Smooth and soft mouthfeel, chewy texture, easily drinkable. Toasted bittersweet taste. Caramel and toffee, earthy, minerals. Grassy hops, herbs, medium peppery. Mild metallic presence. Strong herbal aftertaste, medium lasting finish, dry, bitter and peppery. Pretty much your average bitter. Ok.

Can from Victa Velebitska, shared with heavy. Clear bronze-amber body with a white head. Dusty, flowery aroma, raisins, sweetish. Okay. Taste... sweet, malty, cardboard and some graininess maybe. Just so damn sub-par... Not worth exporting, even less worth importing.

Can. Clear amber-brown color with white head. Aroma is toffee, a touch cardboard, nutty. Taste is nutty, grainy, cereal. A bit watery mouthfeel with low carbonation. Actually quite drinkable, just a bit thin.
