Cask at the Cock Tavern, 30/03/13. Dark mahogony brown with a thin tan head that retains well. Nose carries malt, toffee, smokey tones - but not overpowering. Taste comprises roast malt, smoked gammon, dark toffee. Medium bodied with soft carbonation, smoke in the finish. Decent.

Cask at the Cock Tavern, London. Pours rich, red-brown with a lasting, tan foam head. Good smokey dark malt nose, some burnt toast. Light to medium sweet flavor with rounded smoked malts, ham, burnt toast and wood, moderate earthy bitterness. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Light dry finish, more smoke, some cured meat, burnt ham, faint dark cocoa, some burnt grass. Good balance overall. There’s a decent hop edge here that keeps the sweetness in check.
