This was the first beer to come out of our vats, back in 1985, making it the Brouwerij ‘t IJ classic beer. It is a ‘tripel’, the category reserved for the stronger blonde beers crafted in the Belgian tradition, and Zatte more than lives up to expectations. It’s a full-bodied, golden beer with a scent of fresh fruit mingled here and there with a hint of grain. The flavour is slightly sweet, ending with a fine, dry aftertaste. A delicious classic to be enjoyed in all seasons.

Bottle. Slightly cloudy gold/orange with a decent white head. Aroma of yeast, pears, oranges, lemons and grains. Taste is grainy, yeasty, fruity and slightly spicy with a little bit of honey and herbs. Moderate bitterness. Medium to strong carbonation. Dry finish. It's a very nice Tripel.

Bottle from Wine Rack, West Byfleet (RIP). Warming malty aroma, a vinous hint and some funk. Copper gold, a haze to it. Bubbly, resulting in a thin translucent white head. After the Chili bratwurst with garlic may and horror relish I just had for lunch, this seems quite restrained. Light bitter. Some sourness, more obvious into the finish. Fruit, spice and malts. Medium bodied. Slick to oily. Soft carbonation. Dry finish. Enjoyable if not making a massive impression. Does a good job of hiding the ABV.

Bottle from drinkshop.sk Good classic trippel. Yeasty aroma. Taste reminds Belgian classics with everything you want to see there. Yeasty, light bitterness, bit of banana and I really do appreciate "silky" smoothness. Nice.
