330 ml. bottle @ Beerlovers Bar. Dark brown to black, big dark mocha head. Nose is so black liquorice, umami, syrup, herbal, plastic. Taste is so heavy herbal, black liquorice, bitter herbal, plastic. Body is black liquorice syrup. Not a bad beer but such a Dutch beer really given their inexplicable obsession with the weirdness that is black liquorice.

Pours black , not much head. Smell is creamy, rye. Burnt malts, mild cocoa. Taste is roasty, rye, creamy, ashy. Fairly complex. No competition for the international inpys, but a grwat local offering for those nearby.

Bottle at Erzbierschof Monday Club. Strong booze over plums, but rather diacetilic stale sweetish, bourbon. Body is surprisingly medium, almost no carbonation. Too boozy, not much else.

0,33l bottle at home courtesy of bierkoning from Euro Local Swap, big thanks. BB 09/2016. black color, quite small dark coffee-colored head. smells a bit sour, earthy, fruits, plums, glueish, licorice. decent smell. full body, soft carbonation, slick mouthfeel. tastes sweet, licorice, noticeable alcohol, rather glueish, some fruit notes, green apples, plums. finishes alcoholic with some licorice and glueish notes. uhm, not a big fan of this. as far as imp stouts go not very good, but of course there could be also some kind of infection (green apple and sour ntoes..).

Sampled from 0.33 l bottle at ’Beertemple’, best before December 2016, shared by PotjeBier, thanks Arjen! Pitch black with a light brown head. A little sweetish, very roasty and a bit medicinal aroma of dark chocolate, hard roasted coffee, some alcohol and licorice. Sweetish, very roasty taste of dark chocolate, hard roasted coffee, licorice and some tar, followed by a long, rather roasty-bitter and a little medicinal finish. Medium to full body, slightly oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Good, but very strong stuff! Can imagine this ages well.

almost black colour, moderate sized creamy beige head; aroma of chocolate and herbal liqueur, earthy notes, maybe some smoke and hints of vanilla; taste of very well balanced malty-syrupy sweetness and mild roasted bitterness with chocolate and herbal liqueur notes again and some minimal smokey-cheese and bacon notes; so, it is clearly not among the best imperial stouts, but still very enjoyable! I like it very much!
