English style barleywine, even with English noble hops, named after an old system of measuring gravity. Thanks David for sharing this at the B.U.M.B.A. event in Antwerp! Thick but coarse and rather bubbly, moussy, pale yellowish beige head, hazy peach-hued amber robe. Aroma of purple plums, biscuit, caramel sauce, unripe peach, sweet sherry, candied orange peel, brandy, dried flowers, marmelade. Sweet onset, mandarins and ripe gooseberries, fresh fig, sourish plum juice aspect - a bit strongly so even, hinting at onsetting infection, which is not the first time I encounter it in an Against The Grain beer; sharpish carbo prickling the tongue (clearly too much so for this style and probably mild infection-related as well); supple and full, vinous mouthfeel, biscuity malt sweet body with pleasantly chestnutty edges. The estery, fermenting fruit-like impressions keep lingering all along, ending in ongoing malt sweetness, earthy yeastiness with lots of liqueurish, brandy-like, peppery alcohol. Enjoyable, but clearly on the brink of infection (when is this brewery going to solve this issue?), overcarbonated and a bit too earthy for the intended style.

Beige thin head left a cover on a dark red still body.. Full on woody, oaky, malty aroma with over ripe fruit. Medium to full body, smooth, no carbonation - feels like an oil slick on the palate - nice though! Red berries, malt, sugar, woody, spices & slightly herbal.

Bottle sample at a tasting at Max’s place. Thanks Max. Hazy amber. Aroma of malt, caramel, vanilla, coconut, bourbon, alcohol, stale hops. Sweet flavor, boozy, with malt, caramel, vanilla, coconut, some fruitiness, and bitter stale hops. Kinda one-dimensional and too boozy.

Clear dark amber color, tan head. Aroma of burnt caramel. Taste has toffee, toasted caramel, dark fruit. Tasty.

0.33 l bottle from Svijet piva, Zagreb. Shared with Višnja 666 and Tanja 669. Brown, oily, minimal head, sediment. Heavy barrel & bourbon, light vanilla, light fruity. Strong and whiskey-like, not to aggressive. Medium body, soft, oily structure, medium whiskey finish. Not very interesting, but very well made.

Big creamy longlasting head. Aroma is slightly rich and sour-ish, whiskey, oak, grass, caramel malts, minerals, bark, raisins, old rope, overripe dark fruits, grain. Taste is slightly sour-ish dry mineraly, oak, whiskey, minerals, caramel malts, bark, grass, weeds, raisins, grain, overripe dark fruits. Medium bitterness, slightly dry mouthfeel. Nice.
