Using oats in the grist for this classic style of stout, the beer takes on a silky, creamy body with a smooth, milky, cocoa texture. Gentle bitterness and fresh cold-brew coffee notes complete this rounded, indulgent stout.

330ml bottle. Jet black colour with average to huge, thick, firm, frothy to creamy, slowly osteoporosing, minimally lacing, tan head. Sweet-ish, chocolately, roasty, dark malty aroma, a touch of roasted nuts, grassy hoppy overtones with a touch of weed. Taste is roasty, chocolately, dark malty, hints of white coffee, a touch of roasted nuts, a cautious, sugary touch of hundreds and thousands; creamy palate.

330ml bottle from Brewklopedia, Leicester. Dark brown with a possible hint of purple. It has a quickly dissipating beige head. I love the smell: gentle chocolate malt with porridge and slight hints of liquorice. Sweet taste at first, but it's well balanced by earthy hops providing a woody and almost vinous bitterness. The finish is much drier than the initial sip, laving hot fudge, salt liquorice and charcoal in the aftertaste. Thick, oily body with just enough carbonation to lift the mouthfeel. A winner in my book.

Bottle shared with Ferris @ Van Moll Brewpub. Opaque dark black color, medium sized beige head. Aroma is malts, floral. Hmm. Maybe slightly oatmeal. Taste malts, hops, oatmeal hmm not so much, body doesn’t suggest it either. Grassy hoppiness in there, slight roast, moderately bitter. Hmm ok but weird for a porter.

Bottle - Decent oatmeal and mellow sweet roast, jet black with a rich light brown head. Light toasty notes, cocoa and a mellow finish.
