Pannepøt (read Pannepeut) is a beer specially brewed and named as a wink to the Danish market presented at the Danish beer festival ’Københavnske Øldage 2006’ exclusively at Ølbutikkens stand. It is produced to express the brewers gratitude to all the Danish beer amateurs that drink their products daily. Pannepøt has later been available on draught and bottles at bars and shops in Belgium & Denmark. Since winter 2006, this beer’s popularity kept growing in Belgium at such a level that the production today equals Pannepot.

Pours dark brown with a small head.Nose shows cocoa, caramel, soft spices, nutmeg, bready malt and grainy notes.Flavours include cocoa, burnt fig, bitter roast, astringent spices and booze.Carbonation could be lower.

Aroma is somewhat sour with earthy notes, some vinegar, spices, malt and ripe fruits. Flavour is quite spicy and sour with ripe fruits, some vinegar, oaky notes and distant earthy notes. Somewhat messy and this lacks that something that basic Pannepot has. Worst of the Pannepots I’ve had so far. But still good.

Bottle at home 2010 PNP #5, Noel Cuveliers, 13/01/13. Obscured chestnut brown with a thin off white/light tan head that retains as an off centred film. Nose carries dark fruit notes, malt, raisens, dark brown sugars, touch of wood, spice, tobacco. Taste comprises dark fruits, raisens, plums, dates, brown sugar, spice, light yeast esters. Full bodied, soft carbonation, a little booze in the finish. Well balanced and complex it comes into its own as it warms a little.

330 mL bottle. Dark, murky brown with a small, tan head. Aroma of heavy caramel, plums, resin, and bitter chocolate. Slightly sour, sweet, and medium bitterness. Medium body, sticky, heavily acidic, and clingy. Overall, this is a flavorful, complex, and interesting beer, but the mouthfeel is a little harsh.

2010 bottle, 13C. Very dark but clear brown, a finger of beige head that’s never less than a coat. Aroma of prunes, raisins, polished leather, chocolate, licorice, light spices. Silky texture, gentle carbonation.Never more than mouthfilling - a slow drinker, not a forbidding sipper. Fairly sweet with dried fruit and chocolate, a little coffee. Yeast notes are there - bread and a little leather - but not heavy. A little porty, some overt alcohol. Bitterness and light spices again lighten things. Not as intense as it might be, but supple and good.

2011 vintage, 37.5CL in a snifter. Enjoyed at cellar temp in a snifter. Appearance is hazy dark brown with a 1 finger slightly tan head. Head fades faster than expected. Smell is full of very balanced dark fruits. It’s a nice level of sweetness, licorice and almonds. Taste is very nice! Not too sweet but the candied sugar and brown sugar are nice. Some hint of apricots and some darker fruits. I get this hint of cheap candies. Finish is dry like white wine. heavy body, medium carbonation.

330ml bottle. Cloudy reddish dark brown colour with huge, frothy, lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Dark malty aroma has notes of cocoa, milk chocolate, toast, raisin. Taste is fruity dark malty, vinous, with notes of dark berries, alcohol-soaked black cherries, milk chocolate, decent dry overtones with a touch of leather. Smooth palate, lasting finish.

Poured from a bottle at home. Pours a dark coffee brown with with a quickly collapsing tan head. Toffee and butterscotch aroma. Caramel and raisins in the taste. Lingering slightly bitter finish.

Smells oaky, earthy and boozy. There is blackcurrant as well as some cidery wild yeast smell. It pours dark brown, red with a little champagne-like yeast. Medium to low carbonation. Taste has some sweetness, bitterness and a bit of sourness all in that order - very full on the palate. Something like blackcurrant or prune in the aftertaste as well. Bottle from Winooski Beverage.
