33cl bottle from Sip, Tallinn (some years ago). Pours close to pitch black with a bubbly, being head that dissipate almost immediately. Roasty aroma with dark chocolate, dark dried fruits and brown sugar. Smooth, velvety and desserty. Very enjoyable.

Bottle 33 cl. Pours opaque black with a tiny, rough, beige head - appears a little lifeless. Peat in the nose but also cattle manure - really smells like an old cowshed. Rich, sweet roast - close to flat. Massive, harsh roast, bitter Italian licorice and quite some peat, tar and iodine. Harsh, malt bitter finish. Extremely rough and rustic and to me way, way overrated. 040320

Never heard of this before finding a bottle in Palm Springs early this year. 13% and an imperial stout from Russia, let’s go. A snifter from Buffalo Bayou in Houston, black as black can be in the pour followed by a moderate skim of tawny brown foam. The smell is ash and peat. And now the taste, wow, pretty good, coal, black licorice, raspberry, the darkest chocolate you can imagine. Strong bitterness, a bit of a burn. A potent brew.

The Aromas are dark and black patent, funk, roast and hint of smoke. Flavors are light sweet up front with lots of peat backed with a lot of black patent. Good body, carbonation and long bitter finish.
