Bottle in Amsterdam. Reddish brown with a medium head. Aroma of berry malt. Flavour is marzipan, mellow seeet malt, fruit chocolate finish.

Bottle at home. Very good brown/red color, beige head, disappears. For the 7,5% abv and the notice on the label that it is double matured, the taste is a bit disappointing. Yet a nice bock.

Flesje gedeeld met vrienden. Robijnrood helder bier met matig schuim wat snel weg zakt. Aroma is fruitig, (donkere pruimen). Smaak van geroosterde mout. Weinig nasmaak. Smaak ebt snel weg.

2 oct 2016: Bottle. Color: Reddish brown. Thin beige head. Taste: Roasted malts, hints of nuts, red fruit, caramel and hop. Bitter finish. On the sweet side. Rating 3.3 25 sept 2018: Can. Aroma: Malt, caramel. Taste: Malty, lingering caramel notes, hints of red fruit, moderate hopbitterness. Overall pretty malty. Moderate to medium sweet. Medium body, just below average carbonation. Rating still 3.3. Quite ok overall. 15th of October 2019: Side by side 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. Color: No difference in between the vintages. Aroma: 2019 is definitely the freshest aroma, 2018 and 2017 are both the same, somewhat more ripened and richer aroma. 2016 smells even more ripened and richer. Taste: 2019: See previous tasting notes. Other vintages get somewhat fuller bodied, somewhat more dark fruit, nuts and raisins and more bitterness by age. Less smooth than the newest one, more complexity, less sugary and more depth by age. 2018 and 2017 vintage seem pretty much the same, 2016 vintage definitely is more ripened. I think I like the 2018 and 2017 vintage best but there is not much difference in rating. So still 3.3. Nice experiment, but I think there’s no need to try ageing Bockbier again.

Thuis, fles. Verbazingwekkend OK deze Brand dubbelbock die inmiddels bijna een jaar in m’n kast staat. Goede kastanje/notige smaak en kauwgombalzoetje. 250 ml. draft @ Bierspeciaalcafe De Paas. Post-Borefts 2015. Day 1. Clear amber, solid creamy off-white head. Nose is metallic, herbal, sweet caramel, bit dull. Taste is metallic caramel, cough syrup, sugar, sugar burned on the stove, herbal, caramel, sugar,… Body is caramel, bit metallic. Rather boring but good for what it is and is supposed to be. Satisfactory enough on its own terms.

0,3 l bottle from 2014. Clear, dark amber with a thin, slowly diminishing, tan head. Sweetish-malty aroma of honey, cane sugar, raisins and maple syrup. Sweetish-malty taste of maple syrup and cane sugar with hints of raisins and honey. Medium long, just slightly bitter and minimally alcoholic finish. Medium body, slightly oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very monotonous and quite watery considering the 7.5% abv. Not bad, just a bit boring and lacking some intensity. Could as well have a more sophisticated flavour profile.
