This beer named after The Eldon Hole, one of the seven wonders of The Peak District, is a smooth, roasty stout brewed with Demerara sugar and with added complexity from the addition of Bourbon soaked oak. Caramel, coffee and chocolate flavours are married with a hint of vanilla and fine Kentucky Bourbon.

Bottle from Geers. Dark brown/black colour, thin layer of beige foam. Nose of coffee, vanilla, roasted malts, caramel. Taste is roasty with bitter coffee notes. Nice addition of vanilla and bourbon. I get some peppery notes in the finish. Addition of chili? Well balanced. Not boozy. Fine beer and not expensive at all. Very good price/Quality.

Thanks v&h! Almost pitch black, tan small head. Aroma... Oak, chocolate, soft, caramel, malty, pleasant. Light soft pleasant oak, caramel, cocoa taste, so subtle, vaguely citric. A tasty, balanced, but slightly too subtle beer.

On tap at Haand Festival. It’s close to pitch black in the glass, topped by a two-finger pale tan head that lasts and leaves curtains. Roasted malts, coffee, chocolate, some burnt notes and dark sugar and a hint of dark rye bread in the aroma. Some alcohol too, but not much. It’s full-bodied and nicely carbonated, with lots of dark flavors. Coffee, toast, chocolate and rye bread, with some alcohol warmth. Lasting finish with roasted malts, coffee and chocolate. A bit on the dry side this one, perhaps, but it’s sure a lovely drink. 160527

Smell of oak, tar, roasted malt. Cola colour, dark brown head. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, licorice, oak, vanilla. Some alcohol and roasted malt in finish, also a faint of hop. Very bitter, fizzy carbon. Surprisingly light body, yet quite robust.

330ml bottle. Pours black with a creamy beige/tan head, good retention. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, caramel, bourbon. Taste of chocolate, caramel, vanilla, bourbon, sugar, coffee, warming alcohol. Mouthfeel is creamy smooth, carbonation average, bitterness quite low. Lovely sweet imperial stout.

BOTTLE 33 CL. Almost black, beige head. Cooking chocolate, toasted marshmallows - all round and candyish. Similar taste, very velvety and round, almost feels like artificially flavored. Light bitter finish. Not bad.

Pours pitch black, topepd with a medium sized, creamy and lasting beige head. Mild malty nose with chocolate, some alcohol and vanilla. A bit of dry fruit notes later on. Starts sweet with nice chocolate notes, some vanilla addition as well with a bit of roastiness in the finish. Medium alcohol warmth in the end. Medium body, a bit creamy. Nice one.
