This beer named after The Eldon Hole, one of the seven wonders of The Peak District, is a smooth, roasty stout brewed with Demerara sugar and with added complexity from the addition of Bourbon soaked oak. Caramel, coffee and chocolate flavours are married with a hint of vanilla and fine Kentucky Bourbon.

330ml bottle at home. Pours oily night black with basically no head. Aroma is super intense and very dark, dark malts are abundant, some dark fruit, plums, figs, coffee, hints of toffee and treacle. Flavours are similar. Loads of dark malts, quite bitter but extremely balanced, again some dark fruit and especially plum flavours, coffee and quite spicy, some toffee. Long and intense finish. Brilliant imperial stout!!

Aroma of mellow roasted malts, savoury notes, no alcohol, soft nose
Taste of mellow roasted malts, dark caramel , soft savoury malts, dab of vanilla
Palate - Soft carb, medium to full body, soft sweet, alcohol well hidden, smooth. Finish a bit dry, dab of burnt toast in finish, smooth dark malts, soft bitter roast, soft warming alcohol
Overall - Nicely made impy, not getting the Bourbon but not bothered about that

Nice beige head. Aroma isn’t very intensive. Some sweet chocolate, coffee, caramel, dark fruits, licorice, vanilla. Taste of sweet chocolate, caramel, Medium sweet. Bitter is very high, sharpy and longlasting. Light body, soft carbonation. Expected more.

Botella 33 cl en cimmeria 05..01..2017. (r144). Fcpref 10..02..2018. Color negro intenso con espuma beige oscuro. Aromas y sabores maltosos con toques de cacaos y maderas con predominio de licores de bourbon. Cuerpo medio líquido que espera ligeramente al calentar. No está mal.

Bottle from Salthouse Bottles, Brockley. Dark brown pour with a beige head. Raisin, caramel, light smoke and chocolate aroma. Flavours of dark fruits, chocolate, raisin. Good brew but doesn’t feel like an impy stout.

Bottle @ Boxbeers. Pours black with a small creamy beige head. Roast, chocolate, ashes and bourbon. Realatively hard roasted and bitter roasted finish.

Bottle. Pours black, small grey head. Scent is rather sweet, bit roasty. Taste is rather sweet, roasty, mild oakyness. Very hidden Bourbon notes. Thin body, ok carbo.

Shared 330 ml bottle at local tasting, as Thornbridge Eldon Bourbon Oak Imperial Stout, from Ales by Mail. ABV 8.0%. Black colour, beige head. Moderate aroma of bourbon, hints of vanilla and chocolate. Smooth and well rounded flavour, with bourbon, vanilla, chocolate and mild coffee. Excellent beer.

(bottle, 33cl) Dark brown, near black colour with a brown and firm foamy head of medium size. Mildly roasted malty aroma with notes of chocolate, toffee, bourbon vanilla and dried fruits. Slightly sweet and roasty bitter flavour, medium to full bodied with a smooth carbonation. Slightly roasted malty with notes of chocolate, shades of butterscotch and mocha, accompanied by bourbon vanilla, oaky accents and minor traces of booze towards the sweet-bitter finish. A well-rounded, not to fat and intense Imp. Stout. 14.XI.16
