This beer named after The Eldon Hole, one of the seven wonders of The Peak District, is a smooth, roasty stout brewed with Demerara sugar and with added complexity from the addition of Bourbon soaked oak. Caramel, coffee and chocolate flavours are married with a hint of vanilla and fine Kentucky Bourbon.

Opaque dark brown beer, decent pale tan head. Palate is smooth, semi dry and has modest fine carbonation. Smooth dark malts, some dark chocolate. Trace of vanilla. Mild dark fruits. Smooth finish brings spicy esters. Timid on the barrelling but fine.

Bottle from Cambridge Wine Merchants, Kings Parade. Dark brown with a lovely grey-tan head. Opaque. Chocolate fudge, cream custard, caramel. Sweet, chocolately and creamy. Just a hint of bourbon in the sweet-sour finish. Booze hits you a bit at the end bit for the most part doesnโt taste all that strong. Really good stuff.

Aroma is rather mild with butter and toffee. Flavour has vanilla, bourbon, woody notes and some licorice. A bit leathery palate. Quite typical bourbon-IS, perhaps a bit bland.
