A warm chestnut brown with red glints and a cream-beige head. The abbey yeast in combination with the rye, wheat, and roasted malts generates a complex bouquet of dark dried fruits: plums, dates, rum raisins, and a hint of hazelnut. The drink is dry and elegant and leaves behind a wine-like impression. The alcohol content of 8.5 VOL% is pleasurably integrated.

Bottle from a local bottle shop. Aroma is dark malt with caramel, brown sugar, soft dried fruits, raisins, and spicy yeasty notes. Sweet flavour with a light to moderate bitterness. Medium body. Not a bad Dubbel.

Bottle. Nose it's malt, dough. Taste is brown bread, licorice hint of spice touch of cola in the thin dry and dusty finish. Murky/ cloudy finish. It's really bad. Given the to positive reviews below I wonder if there are production issues or a change in recipe.

Bottle picked up from Globus Plattling and consumed at home Saturday 5th October 2024 in the company of Craig and Stella, after Chicken and Chorizo Lasagna for tea and Toblerone Ice Cream and also Lemon Curd Ice Cream. Pours murky brown, this is shocking absolutely awful wtf is this trying to be. Some liquorice, a little chewy, brown paper bag, awful, it's the usual from Insel i.e. one decent beer then a few poor ones, however this is a shocker.

Bottle. Murky brown/dark red with an ok beige head and loads of floaties. It’s no beauty for sure. Aroma of malts, yeast, brown sugar and dried fruits. Taste of malts, caramel, brown sugar, yeast, raisins, dried fruits, a little bit of chocolate and spice. Dry finish. Low to moderate bitterness. Medium to strong carbonation. Surprisingly good.
