This beer named after The Eldon Hole, one of the seven wonders of The Peak District, is a smooth, roasty stout brewed with Demerara sugar and with added complexity from the addition of Bourbon soaked oak. Caramel, coffee and chocolate flavours are married with a hint of vanilla and fine Kentucky Bourbon.

Bottle. Beer Stop, Dronfield. Deep, chestnut brown. Thin, messy, lasting, tan head. Aroma of roast coffee malts. Dark chocolate. Charred wood. Some fudgy sweet notes. Bit of vinous tang. Taste is cocoa sweet. Some charred wood bitterness. Smooth, and easy drinking. Fine carbonation. Soft, fudgy sweetness in the finish, with more of the woodiness right at the end. Winner.

Bottle picked up at Cotteridge Wines, Cotteridge, Birmingham Saturday 5th March 2016 consumed at home Tuesday 8th March 2016. Pours black in colour with a light beige head, chocolate and Brazil nuts on the nose and in the mouth , there is some roasted malts in the mouth, bitter coffee and cocoa, yes coffee and cocoa, smooth, I donโt get too much bourbon thankfully, I like this itโs a really nice beer. Keg at Royal Volunteer Arms, Briz. It pours jet black with a medium tan head. The nose is rich roast, creamy, toffee, vanilla fudge, tiffin, caramel shortbread and brrrrbon. The taste is toasty, roasted malts, chocolate, rocky roast, pepper, liquorice, touch of alcohol, treacle, burnt vanilla and honeycomb with a toasted finish. Medium body and average carbonation. Aroma is rather nice, but it is a touch sweet and lacks the depth I had hoped for. Not bad overall.
