This beer named after The Eldon Hole, one of the seven wonders of The Peak District, is a smooth, roasty stout brewed with Demerara sugar and with added complexity from the addition of Bourbon soaked oak. Caramel, coffee and chocolate flavours are married with a hint of vanilla and fine Kentucky Bourbon.

Sampled @ Craft Clerkenwell. Opaque pitch black color, medium sized creamy beige to light brown head that leaves good lacing. Aroma is malts, dark malts, soft roast and bourbon. Taste malts, soft roast, lightly vanilla, dark malts, light bourbon, medium bitter. Medium to full body, medium carbonation. Good.

On tap at Craft Clerkenwell. Black beer lasting tan head. It’s a dark intense imperial stout so lots of smooth espresso coffee and dark chocolate. And it is amoith not roast and harsh. Although there is a harshness from the carbonation. I hate that. Very drinkable for a 8% beer. Some bitterness on the finish. Good soft chocolate and coffee. Decent. Not getting a lot of bourbon except some sweetness and a little woody paper. Ok. Just the carbonation and wood detract.

Bottle at home picked up at Beer Gonzo. A dark mahogany brown coloured pour with reddy hues and a lasting loose mid tan head. Aroma is sweet and woody, vanilla, amaretto biscuits, musty oak. Some nice tart tangy raspberry fruit notes on the nose as well. Flavour is composed of rich bitter smooth dark chocolate, woody vanilla oak, smooth boozy cakey malts, some dried fruits in the finish. Lingering smooth bitter roasted choc. Palate is smooth velvety, medium sweet, frothy mellow carbonation. Yummy

Bottle at home in London - picked up at Kris Wines. Pours deep black-brown with a frothy, tan head. Smooth roasted malts in the aroma, vanilla, milk chocolate. Medium sweet flavour with prominent creamy chocolate character, light bittersweet cocoa, restrained ashy roast, vanilla pods, undertones of coffee and burnt caramel. Medium to full bodied, lightly chewy, with fine carbonation and creamy texture. Lightly warming in the finish, with more velvety chocolate character, creamy vanilla, some bitter scorched earth, baking cocoa. So, so smooth overall. Exceedingly drinkable.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines; black pour with a bubbly light tan tidy head, aroma has dark fruits, some roast and liquorice, taste has dark roast, some charred wood, not getting much bourbon, chocolate, dark fruits, hints of vanilla, quite thin bodied for an impy.

Bottled@Little Pub, Vaasa. Black colour, mediumsized beigeish brown head. Aroma is liquorice, toffee, mild alcohol and some toasted notes. Flavour is nutty, liquorice, alcohol and chocolate. Delicious.
