Kriek Retro

Bottle: Clear, ruby-amber coloured, small pinkish head, cherries and grains in the mouldy-sourish nose; moderate sweet-sour flavour, pretty light bodied; light to moderate sourish-sweet finish, surprisingly with cherries and a lingering tartness in the aftertaste. Quite O.K., even though not overly convincing…

bottle 2010 at kulminator . pours red, white foam. smells old already . taste is also quite old. i think it will go downhill from here, but now its still pretty drinkable

375 ml. thuis – gekocht bij ALBO. Helder snoep robijn rood, kraag is van korte duur, maakt wel mooie kanttekeningen. Geur is artificiële, krieken, kersen, wat zuur van artificiële zoetstof en tevens wat lichte bitterheid ervan, de zuurheid van dit lijkt niet echt van lambiek afkomstig te zijn voor mij. Smaak begint met een medium bitterheid van zoetstoffen, wat lichte kersen grenadine, artificieel krieken, limonade toetsen, wat chemische zoetstoffen die een zuurheid aan het einde geven, wat stof een oude zoetstof smaken ertussen gelegd. Ik weet niet of het aan mijn vooroordelen ligt of niet maar als echte lambiek komt dit niet over voor mijn. Sprankelend mondgevoel. Ik reken dit ook onder limonade … ’t is ok. Hoe dan ook dit is niet waaraan ik denk als ik de woorden traditioneel, retro en kriek hoor. Hun kriekenlambiek daarentegen is heerlijk.

[11/29/07] Bottle. Labeled as "Timmermans Tradition Kriek Retro Lambic". Deep red with a pinkish head. Aroma of cherries, some marzipan and acidic notes. Flavor of sour cherries and sugary sweetness. Light to medium body. Maybe slightly too sweet, but still quite nice. 6/4/6/3/13=3.2

Bottle from Beers of Europe. It pours deep red-pink, with a thin fizzy white head. The nose is sweet cherry, raspberry, strawberry, marzipan and a hint of acidity, a lot less artificial than the standard kriek. The taste is tart cherry, sweet berry, floral aspect, yoghurt, lemon, lightly acidic, with a sweet-sour finish. Medium body and fine, prickly carbonation. A step up from their regular kriek, but still nowhere near the oude kriek.

37.5cl bottle, anno 2010. Cuivrée/acajou, col fin rosâtre. Arôme est de cerise, peau, fruits pressés avec ce léger profile de pomme. En bouche, cerise, noyau/peau sur une légère pointe surette, le tout est pétillant en bouche, léger, on y ressent l’ajout de pomme même ci cette dernière reste en retrait. Légère et rafraîchissante. Sur la fin, levure donne ce côté renfermé avec une signature qui rappelle les Gordon (une bémol). Dommage

Corked and caged bottle labeled Timmerman’s Tradition Kriek Retro. (Best before 11/08/12). Pours with a clear deep cherry hued body with a medium sized off-white head that slowly fades. Aromas of crayola, rotten fruit, vinegar, leather, earth, trashcan, cherries, some cherry pits, medium to high esters. Minimal funk. A bit dusty. Flavors are like sweet tarts...actually more like a war head candy. Very sweet and sticky mixed with an intense citric or malic tartness. Quite tart considering that it is back sweetened. Tangy, cherries, earthy, soil, light metal. Surprisingly unoffensive. Acidic back end. A bit bigger and stickier than I want on the palate. Medium carbonation. Puckering.

Sourish aroma with cherries which kind of reminds me about oud bruin style beers. Taste is close to oud bruin too, sour and cherryish. Fruit juice can be observed, but no signs of sugar whatsoever.
