(Cask at Catford Bridge Tavern, London) Pours a thick murky amber with a off white head that leaves a healthy lacing. Aroma and taste of complex tropical fruit and malty caramel with a pleasant substantial mouthful that tingles the palate. Seriously impressive stuff.

Bottle at the Kernel Brewery. It pours cloudy red-brown, with a medium beige head. The nose is hop sack, farmyard, brown bread, spice, dark fruit and citrus. The taste is earth, dark fruit, rye, light spice, hay, jam, roasted malt, charcoal, brown bread and some citrus coming through, with a bitter finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. Flavoursome, well balanced and pretty damn delicious.

Bottle bought at The Beer Boutique, Putney, London. A murky amber/brown coloured pour with a medium, lasting off white head on top. Inviting hoppy, tropical fruit aroma. Tastes hoppy, definite grapefruit, pine a little tropical fruit too, almost silty if that is possible. Nice delicate bitterness. Another classy effort from The Kernel.

33cl bottle from the marvellous Bottle Shop in Canterbury. Hazy deep red ruby colour lasting beige head. Hops off the bat with that distinctive fruity american amber aroma that I like so much. Yes a big American style amber. I have to admit this is one of my favourite styles. I love that strawberry/raspberry big malty flavour tailored to big PNW grapefruit laden hops. This delivers all of that. Just so rich, drinkable and rewarding. God I love this style and this beer is just the right epitome of the style. Nice one.

Bottle at home - 16/09/12. Pours a murky Seville orange colour with a thin off-white head that soon forms a pond and recedes to the edge of the glass. Wonderful tropical fruit nose, grapefruit, mango allied to some orange, pine and hops - doesnโt really get any better than this! Taste largely follows - bitter grapefruit, pine resin, mango. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, fruit and hops in the finish. Ratings increased slightly as I drank - top notch!
