Bottle, 7.3% @ FOneFan. Hazy dark amber/brown with small off-white head. Aroma is malt, caramel, fruit, hops and a little citrus. Flavour is malt, caramel, little sweet, fruit, hops, little grapefruit, pine and medium bitter.

Bottle @ "Det er meget mørkt i Ulfborg", November 2012. Pours cloudy ruby amber with a small white head. Nose is red grapefruit, pine and mild caramel. Smooth and dry. Quality as always from Kernel.

Keg @ In De Wildeman. Brown color, very cloudy, murky. Very dense, off white head with long retention & good lacing. Aroma’s: skunky (stinky even), dried hops, citrus, with retronasal some roast and rye. Flavor is somewhat acidic, medium bitter with a little sweetness from the rye making it a bit softer. Medium body. Finishes a bit dry, medium bitter, roasted, rye, a bit acidic.

Bottle at home 26th October 2012. Pours a murky reddish colour, not nice looking, aroma is not the usual kernel aromatic hops, taste is nice, quite sweet and creamy , bit over carbonated for my palate. Not a great beer from kernel, it is ok Re rate, 31st January 14, new brew, this is far superior to original rate, poured clear, lots of tingly hops, distinctive amber taste, good and most enjoyable, not sure what was up with the first bottle, from years ago

33cl bottle [from trade with Leighton] @ home shared with Joes. Opaque hazy red to dark red color, full sized creamy, good lacing, long lasting off-white head. Smell malts, very fruity, very hoppy, freshness, flowers, blossom. Very nice. Taste malts, moderate to heavy hoppy, fruityness, moderate to heavy bitter. Medium body, medium carbonation.

Bottles from The Beerhive and Great Grog. Murky amber/brown body with a medium beige head. Excellent lacing. Aroma of lychee, pine, caramel, pepper and green apple. Flavour of caramel, strawberry, peppery biscuit, liquorice root and pear. Medium body with an oily mouthfeel. Soft carbonation. Not as dry or spicy as other rye beers I’ve tried, but there’s so much flavour in every sip. I’d love to see more Amber Ales from The Kernel.

Very hazy deep red- amber beer. Tidy cream coloured head. Nice orangey pine hop nose. Palate is smooth and a little dry with mild fine carbonation. Minerals. Lovely rye malt - a little spice, cream as well. Fairly bitter hops - bitter pine with just a little citric marmalade and fresh orange. The malt cream gets sweeter. Finishes semi dry with a long bitter linger. Nice contrast of sweet and bitter.

Craft Tottenham Ct Rd. Keg. As Red Brick. Hazy red - amber beer, tidy pale cream colour head. Smooth palate, decent superfine carbonation. Good sweetish malts, light cream. Lovely cooling pine hops with a pleasant undercurrent of smooth marmalade and hop spice. Finishes with a carbonated nip. Great stuff.

Bottle at home in London. Pours a rich, cloudy red-brown with a creamy, off-white head. Big, toasty pine aroma, lots of toasty bread, grass, faint caramel. Medium to big sweet flavor with rich and rounded pine character, toasty bread, wood, burnt grass, dark grapefruit, mellow rye tang. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Good and resinous to finish with lots of toasty sugars, sticky pine, more toasted bread, ripe citrus. Great balance to this one. Very rich and well rounded.
