Black IPA, dan kan toch niet? In Amerika denken ze van wel. India Pale Ale heeft van nature een koperachtige kleur en zeker geen zwarte zoals deze Pitch Black. Black IPA is een bier met de kleur van een stout en het smaakprofiel van een IPA. Door gebruik te maken van ontbitterde zwarte mout en typische Amerikaanse hopsoorten krijgt deze Pitch Black IPA een zeer uniek karakter.
Tijdens de Brussels beer challange 2017 heeft de PTCH BLCK goud behaald.

Bottle at home, black beer, small head. Aroma is citrus, roast, malt, some coffee and chocolate. Taste is the same, bitter, sweet, malt, roasted, citrus, bitter dry aftertaste, nice one.

330ml bottle. Opaque, black colour with average to huge, thick, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, beige head. Slightly weak, grassy, minimally herbal and citrusy, hoppy, as well as roasty, dark malty aroma, notes of green onion, a touch of lemon, notes of dark chocolate, a touch of coffee. Taste is mildly bitter, roasty dark malty, grassy and minimally citrusy hoppy, doughy yeasty overtones, hints of green onion, a touch of lemon, brioche, some dark chocolate, a touch of coffee; lingering, bitter hoppy and roasty finish. Slightly oily texture, smooth and soft palate, fine and soft carbonation. Slightly restricted hoppiness concerning aroma, intense but still integrated bitterness, a tad too much yeastiness - OK.

Bottle. Deep dark brown color. Roast, citrus and raisin in the aroma. Malty sweet flavor with roast and lemon. Licorice. Low on carbon. Has potential, could be better.

Bottle [from trade with bierkoning] @ home. Almost opaque dark brown color, dark red glare, full sized beige to light brown colored head. Smell and taste malts, heavy roast, somehow a light hoppy note comes through as well surprisingly and bitterness is high. Pretty much up my alley, I like it. Well bodied as well. Yeah nice beer. 8-4-8-4-17.

33cl bottle. BB 10/2018. Trade with bierkoning, many thanks! A very dark brown beer with a huge good lasting beige head. Aroma of liquorice, sweet dark malt, melasse. Taste of dark roasted malt, liquorice, sweet malt, sugar, melasse, citrusy bitter hops.
