Our Victory at Sea Imperial Porter is a bold, smooth brew with just the right amount of sweetness. We infused this robust porter with whole vanilla beans and San Diego’s own Café Calabria coffee beans. Bottle. A- Coffee, mocha, chocolate, vanilla, subtle caramel, roasty, Starbucks frappuccino. A- Black color, black liquid, brown head. T- Coffee, slightly bitter, roasty, vanilla, mocha. P- Full body, average texture, average carbonation, roasty bitter finish. O- WOW. This may be the best damn smelling beer ever. So aromatic. It smells like a vanilla Starbucks frappuccino. So much coffee, vanilla, and goodness. The taste is about the same. The coffee and vanilla notes are played out exceptionally. A little bitter as it warms on the palate but still great. Not much I’d do to change this one. I want another.

Backlog, bottle. Dark brown/black, two finger beige head, dissipates quick leaving some lacings. Aroma is coffe, chocolate, swedish julmust, malt, slight alcohol. Taste is roasted malt, coffee, vanilla, chocolate, minor bitter hoppiness in the finish. Full body, medium carbo, oily texture. Good and well balanced.

Sharing bottle. Dark, dark amber, almost black body with a medium sized dense beige head. Strong aroma of dark, smooth roasted malt, dark chocolate and some warming alcohol. Flavor is strong, but very smooth and balanced, dark, roasted malt, dark chocolate, vanilla, coffee and pleasant bitterness. Fine, strong and balanced body with a long lasting aftertaste of dark malt and warming alcohol. Great beer all the way.

Bottle, $3.20 Wine Warehouse, CHO. Pours black and thick. Looks wonderful. Small brown head. Yummy chocolate, coffee, green peppers, dust, and vanilla in the nose. Heavy cold coffee, dark chocolate, and vanilla. Yum.

Black and very little head at all, fine for a porter. Aroma of coffee is stronger than the vanilla. But both are there. Strong roasted malt character. Increased in promonence by the coffee flavor, bit it holds back from tasting like it was burnt. Vanilla in the flavor also. Thick, heavy, and very smooth palate.

(350ml bottle @ VilleValla Pub, Linköping, April 21 2015) Pours black with a medium brown head and some lace. Aroma powerfully espresso driven with lots of vanilla as well, a bit of chocolate for support, roasty and not very sweet. Taste echoes the palate, rich coffee and vanilla with a bit of chocolate in support, fairly heavily roasted, slightly sweet dark malt. Dries out pretty quickly, roasty coffee, a bit of cacao, earthy, a bit of hop bitterness. Finish is very dry, lean and roasty with some coffee and vanilla lingering on, almost a peppery quality to the bitterness. Medium bodied, not too thick with average carbonation. Compared to a rich stout this is quite dry and has that lean roasty finish so the aftertaste isn’t as intense. A really nice porter though, the flavour additions come through well.

Dark brown to black color, darker tan head. Aroma is sweet malt, vanilla and coffee candy. Taste is quite sweet caramel, milk chocolate, some vanilla, roasted coffee beans and vanilla flavored coffee. Full bodied, very well hidden but still noticeable alcohol heat. Very nice.
