Tap at DOXX. Pale yellow-golden body, a definitive sign of things to come. Honeyish malty nose, sweetish, light dust. Hmm. Grainy, slightly tangy, slightly eggy dull ordinary bitterish taste. Why did I order this? Oh wait, yeah, because I’m a serial ticker let loose in Brussels. :/

Bouteille: Pale greenish-golden, a bit unclear, small foamy layer, grainy papery nose with a hardly detectable hoppy touch; mild to moderate bitter-sweet flavour, light bodied; short and moderate grainy bitter finish. Not really bad, but another proof for the fact, that Belgians can’t brew excellent Lagers…

Aug 2008: Brown 25cl bottle drank 17 days before its best before date. Poured into a Veltins Pilsner glass and compared to a Maes Pils (Alken-Maes) poured into a simular glass. Dull golden colour with bits floating in, not used to lagers/pilsners with floaters! The huge white head retained its size and depth very well, it’s the flotsum I was worried about. This pilsner had an aroma, some hops and yeast smells could be detected, makes a change. Normally I struggle to pick up anything in a lager/pilsner. This pilsner had a presence, not sure what of, but it was a lot better than its fellow Belgian Maes Pils. Depth and strength of body was impressive compared to other European lager/pilsner beers. I could drink this if proper beer wasn’t available!

(bottle, 25cl) Clear, pale golden colour with a blond and dense foamy head. Slightly doughy malty aroma with notes of herbal hops. Moderately bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a crisp carbonation. Soft pale malty taste with present herbal and grassy hops, dry and bitter hoppy and slightly raw finish. Tastes as if it came from the north of Germany. 05.II.12

250ml bottle. Clear yellow with average white head. Salient bitter hop aroma, almost peppery and spicy. Fizzy carbonation hampers a real tasting, could be lemonade or sparkling water as well. Some dry and soapy hop is the only other impression.

Draft @ Le Tavernier, Ixelles.

Draught, small stable head, clear light yellow colour, muted aroma of grain with a touch of honey, grainy flavour with herbal hops notes, coarse unpleasant bitterness. Not good.
