Bottled 330ml (2016 vintage, Alko)
Dark red color, good creamy beige head, lace. Toasted aroma has licorice, caramel and dark coffee. Medium-bodied, lighter than could expect from this strong beer. Toasted, licorce, dark fruits. Aftertaste is very warming with "watery" finish. Some De Proef fingerprints. Much more simple than previous vintages I’ve had.

A very dark brown beer, a head is quite big and beige. Aroma has sweet fruitness with dark and dried notes, flowers and spicyness of anise. Taste has dark fruitness, some roastiness and liquirice, hint of alcohol. Medium bodied, warming in the throat. Interesting beer, maybe I will buy a couple more to my cellar. Dark fruity with dark notes.

330ml bottle @ Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury. Not entirely sure what the difference is between this 2016 bottle and last year’s 2015 bottle (or previous years for that matter) but this is a great Belgian quad, nicely balanced, hints of spice here and there, smooth with whispers of sweetness. A good winter warmer.
