Timmermans Tradition Faro is a beer made by adding candy sugar and water to lambic to mellow its acidity. In the 19th century, Faro was very popular in the Brussels area. Various folk traditions were associated with it, and this ambrosial drink flowed abundantly, thanks to its relatively neutral but extremely pleasant flavour. Today, Faro Timmermans is still brewed using the methods and recipes of days gone by, and meets with unanimous approval.

Taste-wise… A sweet beer with a base of lambic enhanced with water and candy sugar, to make it just light enough. The sugared notes predominate, imparting a general flavour which does not intensify on the palate but is wonderfully refreshing.

Bottle 37.5cl caged and corked @home poured into tumbler. Sour nose. Clear amber brown, small fizzy head, vanishes quickly. Sweet and sour aroma, tart, gooseberry, light vinegar, woody, bit barnyard. Taste above medium sweet and light sour, gooseberry, candy sugar, light wood. Medium body, sticky texture, soft carbonation, sweet and sourish aftertaste, tart, sweet but not too, less artificial feel than expected, quite oaky.

Bottle from BIAB. Clear brown gold, thin head, very nice sweet and sour nose. Flavor hits a bit sweeter, as intended for Faro I guess. Mildly hopped with apricot and apple notes. I like Faro and I like this!

Fles thuis geprobeerd, helaas. Het is een troebel licht amberkleurig spul met een dun schuim. Het heeft een zure fruitige en wrange geur. De smaak is eerst zoet, dan komt t zure en wrange in.

Dark golden colour with quick fading head. Aroma has tart vinegar and a little wood. This is suppressed in the taste where the sugar kicks in. Still a light tartness to it though.

W aromacie jest conieco dzikusow w strone mokrego siana, wcale nie jakichs sympatycznych. Oraz gruszki bardzo dojrzale. A w smaku przeslodzone ice tea gruszkowe. No bardziej ciekawostka i czekinek niz ze smakiem wypite niestety :( 3.13 ;)
