Timmermans Tradition Faro is a beer made by adding candy sugar and water to lambic to mellow its acidity. In the 19th century, Faro was very popular in the Brussels area. Various folk traditions were associated with it, and this ambrosial drink flowed abundantly, thanks to its relatively neutral but extremely pleasant flavour. Today, Faro Timmermans is still brewed using the methods and recipes of days gone by, and meets with unanimous approval.

Taste-wise… A sweet beer with a base of lambic enhanced with water and candy sugar, to make it just light enough. The sugared notes predominate, imparting a general flavour which does not intensify on the palate but is wonderfully refreshing.

Oak and grapes in the aroma. Sweet and a bit sour taste. Grape sugar, cherry. Bit syrupy. A bit too sweet, but in fact a delicious beer!

Appearance: Cage and cork. Medium brown, red hue. Clear and fizzy. Small, off-white head. Aroma: Sweet, apples, honey? Very faint funkiness. Taste: Sweet, some light caramel. Apples, quite a bit. Very low tartness, hence I quite like it. Bought: Trade with tderoeck - thanks!, 375 ml Info: 23/12-2018, BB: 15/6-2019

375 ml corked bottle, bb 15/06/19. Moderate pop at opening.
Amber-brownish, clear body, with a small, beige head.
Aroma of cheesy funk, candy sugar, wood, leather, dried fruits.
Tastes quite sticky-sweet, of candy sugar, syrup, sweet dried fruits, moderate funk, some wood, some leather.
Medium, slick mouthfeel, with a moderate carbonation.
Finishes sweet, sugary, wooden, a bit cheesy, a bit leathery, with sweet fruits.

Good. The nose is nice, although sweet, quite diverse, also with nice funk and wood notes. The taste is too sweet though, with the sugar almost completely covering everything else. Still quite fresh to drink.

Bottle. Color: Dark orange golden, frothy white head. Aroma: Bit stale sweet and sour. Taste: Over medium sweet, white sugar, hints of honey, combined with moderate to light sour lemon-like notes. Medium body, under average carbonation. Very sweet, even for a Faro.
