Mama's Little Yella Pils - Our upcoming new canned good is a small-batch version of the beer that made Pilsen, Czechoslovakia famous. Mama's is made with hearty amounts of pale malt, German specialty malts, and a blend of traditional (Saaz) and 21st century Bavarian hops. Our first canned lager, it's also fermented at cool temperatures with a German yeast.
This tasteful reality Czech is the perfect antidote for the watered-down versions of pilsner clogging Americaâ's shelves. And Mama's gentle hopping (about 33 IBUs) and low ABV (just 4.7%) mean we're finally honoring consumer requests for a delicious but less-challenging beer. (Hey, we like a good low-dose session beer, too.) Look for our Gold Metal Winner on US shelves in March.
Sadly, the Feds rejected our Take Two and Call Us in the Morning line on the can.

Can. Poured a clear gold with a white head that dissipated slowly to the edges. Aroma was full of crisp grass, light pine and a bit of a sweet grain and light floral backing. Flavor started with floral and light bread notes with a growing crisp grass note as well as a hint of pine.

Canned from Total Wines & More, Clearwater, FL. On January 22, 2011Clear yellow color, big white head. Sweet malty scent. Sweet, malty, fruity taste. Sweet aftertaste. Medium mouthfeel, medium low bitterness.

Pour is a blonde with a large fizzy white head. Aroma is deffinatly pils malt with some grassyness toward the end. Flavor is again more dry malts and finishes with not much of an aftertaste. Decent and would beer a great beer for a float trip.

Can and draft. Golden body, clear. Fizzy, white head, mostly diminishing. Aroma displays notes of bread, cooke, hay, toast, grass, flowers, honey and dough. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Medium body, smooth texture, lively carbonation. Not as crisp and refreshing as some pilseners and overly sweet, but still, it’s clean. Easy to drink.

Sample at Oskar Blues Grill & Brew in Lyons. The beer is a mostly clear golden-straw color with a medium thin white head that dissipates to an outer ring quickly. Short strings of lacing on the glass. The aroma is alternatively floral and spicy with some fruity notes. Light body with flavors of mildly spiced hops, doughy malt and fruit., The finish is floral with a lightly hopped aftertaste. Slightly above average Pils overall.
