Mama's Little Yella Pils - Our upcoming new canned good is a small-batch version of the beer that made Pilsen, Czechoslovakia famous. Mama's is made with hearty amounts of pale malt, German specialty malts, and a blend of traditional (Saaz) and 21st century Bavarian hops. Our first canned lager, it's also fermented at cool temperatures with a German yeast.
This tasteful reality Czech is the perfect antidote for the watered-down versions of pilsner clogging Americaâ's shelves. And Mama's gentle hopping (about 33 IBUs) and low ABV (just 4.7%) mean we're finally honoring consumer requests for a delicious but less-challenging beer. (Hey, we like a good low-dose session beer, too.) Look for our Gold Metal Winner on US shelves in March.
Sadly, the Feds rejected our Take Two and Call Us in the Morning line on the can.

Can 12fl.oz. @ chriso s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2011.Clear light to medium yellow colour with a average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, white to off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, chalk, paper - cardboard, light to moderate hoppy. Flavour is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average duration. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20110730]

12 oz. can, $1.50 single @ Woodman’s Oak Creek. A date on the bottom of 05/05/09? I’m not sure that’s the real date because of the text around it: "A handful of Pils does a body good." But this is Oskar’s imitation of a cheap yellow brew, so let’s see. A slight bit of oxidation over a basic malty beer smell. Pours the expected pale golden color, a bubbly white head. There’s still some peppery Saaz sitting on top of a light malt profile that manages to leave a sticky note on the lip. A nice beer that goes down well, but isn’t O.B. known for more edgy beers?

Can at Chriso’s Pre-GBBF Shindig, 2011. Grainy aroma, breakfast cereal, nice citrus hops. Yellow, dark. Hoppy, grainy, dry flavor. Interesting. Not great, but original and ok.

Chris pre Gbbf shindig 2011. Decent lager. Good pils good hops no poor flavours. Good dryness. Lovely lager

pilseners are not my fav style, usually too boring, maybe reminds me of when i lived in the beer shadows, drinking miller all the time, and i hate how that makes me feel. this is maybe the best of the style because it goes a little over the top, but still has its clutches on the pilsener, lawnmower beer easiness.

Looks like an unexceptional canned beer, yet leaves lacing all down the glass. Interesting. Smells buttery, no hops whatsoever, not bad but, again, interesting. Tastes uninteresting. I mean, Yella Pils isn’t bad, it’s just a exceptionally average beer in a style that oozes mediocrity. Grainy malts, buttery undertone, bitter Saaz hops on the mild, bubbly finish. Drinkable, just interesting in all the wrong places. (4/24/09)

Can@Oliver Twist, Stockholm. Yellowish golden colour, mediumsized white foamy head. Aroma is bready, but quite sweet maltyness with also some hay and grains into it. Flavour is bready malts, mildly hayish and also has some slight diacetylic notes. Smooth and balanced pils, which has a rather mouthfdrying palate.

On tap at taste of colorado at the Stags head. pours a standard golden color, its dry and crisp and slightly bitter. some hops and grains. its a decent Pils but not my style in general

Can. Poured a clear gold with a white head that dissipated slowly to the edges. Aroma was full of crisp grass, light pine and a bit of a sweet grain and light floral backing. Flavor started with floral and light bread notes with a growing crisp grass note as well as a hint of pine.
