“When I copied the famous Even More Jesus, I had to ask myself as an artist, why am I doing this? I didn’t honestly know. It was just an instinct about beer as pure form… in a sense this stout is like a metaphor for freedom - the sum of all the beauty that surrounds me and my perfect contemporary existence.”

Pours pitch black with close to no head. Aromas of coffee, dark ripe fruits, cocoa, licorice. Taste is fruity coffee up front, cocoa, woody notes, licorice, sweet dark fruits, plums, raisins, malts, molasses.

Bottle. Aroma is smoke, roast, marker pens, booze, chocolate. Taste is quite sweet, coffee, caramel, less chocolate, but a bit, can feel the booze. When it warms it's pretty smooth, chocolate is back, bit of toffee. Warmth definitely takes the edge off. Bit sticky, quite thick. Nice.

Sampled from a bottle this beer poured a black color with a medium sized foamy dark brown head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was dough, anise, roasty malt, floral hops and a hint of bacon. The flavor was wood, a bit of smoke, bacon, crisp floral hops, anise and molasses. Alcohol fairly well controlled. Long finish. Moderately full bodied and smooth.

12 oz. bottle. Pours very dark brown with small brown dissipating head. Aroma is quite boozy, chocolate, caramel, coffee, dried fruit some licorice, quite hoppy. Taste is rather heavy sweet and medium to heavy bitterness, slightly brandy like. Body is full, texture oily, carbonation soft. Finish is long, sweet chocolate and toffee flavors with a hefty kick of lasting bitterness and some warm alcohol feeling. Robust and quite course kick of flavors without even trying to be subtle. I like it!

Batch #014. 10:34. More licorice, smokeyness, peat, than all, doesn't tickle my pickle. Maybe as it warms up. Licorice mellows out and more chocolate comes out. Bumping up .50 after warming up.

Black, without foam. Aroma of chocolate, coffee, licorice, alcohol candies, dried plums. Sweet taste with dry, hoppy finish. Chocolate, coffee, caramel. Hoppy ending. Well hidden alcohol. Low carbonation, medium body. Nice one but expected little more
