Cocoa Wonderland is a full bodied, robust porter with natural mocha malt flavours from the complex malt grist, complementing the decadent additions of real cocoa beans to the maturation process. A truly wonderful, award winning Chocolate beer.
Initially brewed in collaboration with the girls at Cocoa, Ecclesall Road, Sheffield to celebrate their 10th anniversary.

Bottle from Beer Dock, Crewe Like drinking liquid chocolate this. Comes through strongly on the nose, along with hints of ginger. Pours almost black with a lively pale cream head that soon dissipates. Mouth feel is chocolate again, plus coffee, molasses and raisins. And the finish - well chocolate yet again ! All in all very nice, but slightly disappointing in that the porterishness doesnt come though. [ It could be any (darkish) beer with added chocolate ]

Bottle from Cambridge Wine Merchants, Kings Parade. Dark brown with possibly a hint of purple. Very little obvious carbonation and only a tiny wisp of off-white head. Aroma is dominated by coca bean, with touches of roasted malt, instant coffee and violets. Sweet taste, almost too sweet but saved by a slight earthy bitterness. More balanced in the finish with an aftertaste of lavender and mocha. An enjoyable if simple chocolate beer.

33cl bottle from Waitrose, Bracknell. A sooty black pour with a fast fading cream head; fragrant, bitter chocolate aroma; silky smooth with a rich chocoalte taste; and a lasting bitterness. Pleasant, but rather one-dimensional.

On tap at Haand Festival. A lightly hazy brown beer with a finger-thick tan to beige head. Curtains. The aroma has cocoa, some chocolate and caramel and dried fruits. It’s full-bodied, with a nice carbonation level and some bitterness in the mouth. Cocoa dominated flavor with chocolate and caramel, and hints of dried fruits towards the finish. Lasting cocoa finish. Cocoa is nice, but this one was too one dimensional to be really interesting. 160528

Appearance- very dark, opaque, plenty of bubbles rising, a thick fizzy light-brown head which lasts. Aroma- coffee, milk chocolate, brown bread, blackcurrant, dark malt, toast, trace of caramel and hops. Taste- smooth milk chocolate, toasty malt, sweet malt, toffee, coffee, sweet finish. Mouthfeel is smooth, easy to drink. Nice.
