Texels' interpretation of a style which was basically invented in the eighties for commercial reasons... Medium thick, pale greyish white, dottily lacing, opening head over an initially clear, deep and warm amber-hued copper beer, misty and darker brownish-tinged with sediment. Aroma of red apples, margarine, soap, unripe banana, wet toast, dried orange peel touch, pumpkin soup. Sweetish, cleanly fruity onset, red apple, green banana, hint of unripe green melon, sourish hint, softish carbonation, smooth and notably soapy mouthfeel, light bready, rounded mouthfeel with soft toasty edges adding some bitterishness, herbal tea-ish hop bitterish touch, something plastic-like as well, lingering soapiness. Does resemble the bland, superficially toasty, soapy beers classically associated with this non-style so in that sense, mission accomplished. Texels has done better things, though.

Drinkt lekker weg!

Uit een flesje. Troebel roodbruine kleur, weinig schuim.

At Boscafé 't Hijgend Hert, Vijlen. Shared with Anke.
Pours hazy amber with a thin, off-white head. The aroma contains caramel, malt, some spices & red fruits, nuts. It tastes medium caramel-like sweet and light hoppy/spicy bitter; tad dry in the finish. Light body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Refreshing, but no complexity.

Bottle. Muddy red pour. Aroma of creamy caramel, nuts and bitter hop. Taste has bitter hop, caramelised malt, nuts and a little cardboard unfortunately. Little oxidized, but nice.
