Imperial oak smoked wheat stout.
Like a sound system that fills the room with audibles swarming in every direction. This massive stout overtakes your senses with aromas & flavor of dark chocolate, caramel, roast, smoke, earth & wood, It's heavy I know, but you have to drop that bass every once in a while if you really wanna get down.
Label Design Notes: Surround's geometric pattern is based on a piece of tape used by an early analog computer that may have been used in multi-track music production during the 1960s. The type is set in Helvetica Neue LT Std so that we can maximize the area used for the pattern on the label without compromising legibility of the mandatory text.

Tap at CBC 2015. Poured a murky dark mahogany with a frothy tan head. The aroma is roasted malt, light citrus hop. The flavour is moderate bitter with a big coffee malt, spice palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle - Light smoke and barrel notes. Deep brown with a nice brown head. Some burnt smoke notes, light boozy barrel notes. Long bitter finish, but nice.

12 oz. bottle, pours black with a small tan / brown head. Aroma is quite complex and multi-dimensional, with notes of smoke, roast, earthy woody notes and unsweetened chocolate. Flavour is along the same lines, with dark chocolate, light smoke, roast notes and earthy notes. Thick, viscous, rich palate, with a well-balanced flavour profile. Really nicely constructed. Very good stuff.

Viscous black pour - thick, dark tan head - nose of anise, smoke, espresso, raisin, moderate bitterness, and a moderate savory/umami character - creamy texture, though Iβd like a thicker body - flavor is what I like in an imperial stout - not too sweet, with a smoky dryness to the malt character, heavy on the roast, but not overly bitter - some espresso, bitter chocolate, a bit of raisin - finish has a nice savory character to the malt, a touch of acidity - really nice.

12 ounce bottle into snifter, bottled on 2/3/2015. Pours pitch black color with a 2 finger dense and rocky dark brown head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Incredible appearance. Aromas of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, wood smoke, caramel, toast, light char, herbal, and roast/smokey earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/smoked malt and earthy hop notes; with good strength. Taste of big dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, wood smoke, caramel, toast, light char, herbal, and roast/smokey earthiness. Moderate amount of roast/char and herbal hop bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, molasses, wood smoke, caramel, toast, light char, herbal, and roast/smokey earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/smoked malt and earthy hop flavors; with a good roasted bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and fairly full bodied; with a very smooth, creamy, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warmth lingering after the finish. Overall this is an awesome smoked imperial stout style. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/smoked malt and earthy hop flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the big ABV. A very enjoyable offering.

Thanks for sharing! Sampled 330 ml. bottle @ Leuven Innovation Beer Festival. Black & patchy mocha head. Nose is soy & smoke, chewy malts, light sugar sweetness,β¦ Taste is oily soy sauce, creamy mocha in the back, chocolate, soy sauce, light sugar,β¦ Thick soy sauce (which unfortunately dominates a bit) & malty body. Not bad but I expected a lot more.

Smoked oatmeal stout with thin, creamy, beige head and black colour; aroma of cigar tobacco and charcoal, chocolate, roasted meat, smoked bacon, dried plums, raisins; creamy body with soft carbo, dried fruits, basic sourishness (the wheat?), raisins, bitter chocolate, deep and βoilyβ mouthfeel, nice smokey accent blending in rather than overpowering, long dry finish with a dash of peppery hops. Lovely, if youβre into smoked porters and stouts.

Due to artificial coloured illumination, appearance not estimable, arbitrary 4/5 Coffee, ureum, chocolate, koffiebonen (chocolate/coffeesweets). Sweet taste, ureum again, chocolate (dark), mocha. Smoke is very subdued. Very well-bodied, utterly slick. A serious one.
