Growler @ Armin’s palace, courtesy of arminjewell. Thanks! Pours a black appearance with a thin dark head. Dark chocolate, anise, raisin, a bit fruity aroma. Tangy raspberry, vinous fruity, vanilla, dark chocolate, a bit boozy flavor. This is one of the infected growlers, unfortunately. Not horrendous.

THX! for the sample of this gorgeous rarity. This originated from one of the growlers that Mikkeller & To Øl @ Borefts 2013. I didn’t get it from the stand, I managed to get RareR there but missed this one. I have heard from pretty much everyone who has ever gotten hold of this one that their growler was infected & this was no exception. It didn’t taste terrible or anything but this was clearly not what it should have been. I have absolutely no idea how this beer managed to get its reputation. Huge local pushing? Or is it mind-blowing at the source? Black with a mocha head. Smells lactic (yeah) with bourbon, vanilla, sweet, chocolate, caramel, coffee,… Lastic taste, high carb & a bit thin body but still very enjoyable with its notes of vanilla, molasses, caramel, touch coconut, sweet caramel, coffee, faint roast, light warming spirit. Flat, spirit. It must be noted that even despite its condition this was till very enjoyable. Luckily the RareR was in good condition.

Flip top growler thanks to Cleg
Unfortunately this was one of the infected ones. Pours black with a small tan head and good lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, coffee and soy sauce. Flavor of dark malts, soy sauce and bitter
I was looking forward to trying and sharing this, disappointed. Hope to be able to try it again.

Bottle thanks to Craig. Unfortunately this was infected. Pours a jet black color with a medium white head. A light roasted malt and barrel nose, sourness pushing in. The flavor is dominated by sour ashy malts, not acidic, but the dominant sourness ruins the flavors. Some barrel shining through. Not good. I’ll happily re-rate.

Growler released 2 weeks ago Thankfully NOT infected!
A - Pours pitch black, midnight oily black, almost no head, completely still in the glass despite a HUGE pop of the growler top.
S - Odd mix or smells I get chocolate and burnt aromas. A bit plasticy aroma with some weird vinegar but it’s no where near what an infected beer tastes like (chemical, red wine, tart, etc) but it’s got some nice aromas but very similar to what we got in our Noon (berliner weisse growler, plastic)
T - Okay shit, there is a tight tartness on the taste. Pedio? and a hint of lactic acid? yeah some grape skins as well. still some chocolate and whiskey it tastes like it’s REALLY good but sadly, not as good as it could be.
M - Heavy and slick. mild carbonation
O - I can tell how good this beer could be...but it’s not that. Gonna rate this one on a curve. gonna not give it a 2 but a 3.5...if I get a non infected bottle, I’ll re-rate.

Draught at Mikkeller Bar, thanks to hannu for sharing. Body is black as pitch. Shiny, naked surface. Rich aroma of medium roasted, dark malt, notes of wood and liquorice. Tasted fine with chocolate, vanilla and nuts offset by resin-like bitterness to lingering finish. Warming alcohol beneath. Very smooth in the mouth. Just an enjoying and relaxing sipper on a Sunday afternoon in Copenhagen, 26.05.2013.
