Ter Dolen Winter is a creation of our youngest brewmaster Hendrick. For the winter season, he chose to brew a dark beer with a deep red shine. On top of three varieties of malt and two breeds of hops, he added locally produced honey as well as cinnamon.

29 December 2018. Christmas beer evening; shared with Anke. Bottle from Carrefour. Pours hazy reddish brown with a lasting, frothy, tan head; some lacing. Aroma of licorice, aniseed, raisin, cinnamon, apple cake, prune, honey, perfume, cookie, gingerbread. Taste is medium malty sweet, somewhat fruity with raisin & fig, then caramelly, offering notes of cake, honey & licorice; this initiates a light spicy bitterness with cinnamon, aniseed & gingerbread; a bit toasty & nutty before the dryish, herbal hoppy finish, lingering cinnamon & gingerbread, 'perfumed' honey, and warming liqueur alcohol. Medium body, creamy texture, fizzy carbonation. Quite cliché but still an enjoyable winter ale in its own right.

Bottle, 9.1%. Caramelly and spicy aroma. Weak Kräuterlikör aroma. Hazy amber colour. Small white head. The flavour is quite spicy as well. Tastes a lot like Christmas cookies. High carbonation. Not as sweet as some Chrismassy beers, but sweet enough, and good.

Bottle. Pours hazy copper brown with stable off-white head. Clear aroma of malt and dust, with notes of caramel and yeast. Sweetish flavour of caramel malt, with roasty and estery notes and touches of spice. Estery and hebal afteraste. Warming alcohol presence. Well-balanced and enjoyable.
