Bottle 33 cl. Pours an opaque black with a creamy and lacing light brown head. Nose is extremely ashy - as if it was made from coffee grounds and not proper coffee. Rich, sweet body - very sweet - again rather unsophisticated coffee notes making the beer harsh and rough and not particularly easy to drink. 030517

Smell of coffee and milk. Black colour, high dark brown head. Strong aroma of licorice, coffee, tar., alcohol, oak. Milky finish. Wild carbon, foamy thick texture.

Appearance is jet black, opaque, a thick foamy tan head which settles into half a finger. Aroma- lots and lots of rich, dark, roasty coffee, tiramisu, leather, dark chocolate, roast malt, liqueur chocolates, rich dark fruits, booze. Taste- lots of coffee, sweet malts, roast malt, espresso, very dark chocolate, rich and smooth mouthfeel, chocolate truffles, trace of bitterness in the finish, but more sweet. Not quite as full-bodied as expected. More coffee in the finish.

Thick creamy light brown head stayed impeccably on a still black body. This looks like a solid mass. Roast, malt, coffee & dark fruit aroma. So thick & creamy. I’m going to get a knife & fork! Smooth, minimal carbonation. Perfect texture. Coffee, malt, dark sugar, cream, sweet fruits & more coffee.

(Draught at In De Wildeman, Amsterdam, 16 Sep 2016) Black colour with big, creamy, brown head. Malty, roasted nose with dark chocolate, cacao, black rye bread and loads of fresh black coffee. Malty, roasted taste with notes of black coffee, cacao, liquorice, burnt sugar and a generous coffee/cacao bitterness in the finish. Almost full body, with a certain sweetness. Excellent imperial stout with loads of coffee and dark chocolate. Served with some dark chocolate it was quite lovely. Impressive.
