Catch up rating from Saturday’s RS bottle share. Muddy, yes. Funky, yes. Ok for the mud, not so much for the funk. Nice experiment, but the sour notes don’t quite jive with the whole.

On tap. Pours an opaque, dark brown head with a small, short lived tan head. Aroma of sour fruit, bourbon, wine, brett, oak, dark chocolate and roasted malt. Complex flavour of sour fruit, brett, oak, dark chocolate, roasted malt, and coffee with a boozy, alcohol warming note in a mildly bitter finish. Medium to full body with an oily texture and average carbonation. Has a gueuze like quality to it. A little weird but delicious.

From bottle at Proeflokaal Arendsnest. Bizarre aggressieve combi van zwart en zuur. Doet me denken aan Ypres van Struise. Maar dat is lang geleden. Backlog from 2015/03/22.

Pours black into a snifter. No head whatsoever. Dark grape and oak aromas. Thin with chocolate covered cherries and blueberry upfront turning tart before the lasting, dry oak finish.

Bottle sample at a tasting at troubles’s place. Thanks Stas & Vova. Black with quickly-dissipating light brown foam. Slightly sourish aroma of red wine, funk, dark fruits, vanilla, a bit of bourbon hints and a bit of chocolate. Sweetish-sourish flavor, very vinous, with wood, some funk, dark fruits. Medium-bodied. Decent.

Keg at Earl of Essex, Islington, London. A black coloured pour with a thin beige head on top. Boozy, roasty, dark fruit aroma. Tastes similar, boozy, roasty, dark fruit, sour. Rather unbalanced but interesting.
