Named for a medieval Scottish sword, Claymore Scotch ale is a tribute to the legendary "Wee Heavy" beers of Scotland. A malty, deep-ruby-hued ale, it features a generous amount of caramel sweetness, a reserved hop profile and a subtle warming character, at 7.7% alcohol by volume. Claymore will be available in six-packs and on draft through mid-April.

Can at home. Dark brown color, no head (ok super small and instantly gone). Aroma is malts, raisins, dark malts. Flavor is similar, dark candy sugar, brown bread. Maybe also a smoky note. Yeah definitely a touch of smoked malts. I like it. 7-3-7-4-15

Can from Cotteridge Wines and drunk on a picnic blanket. Dark dark brown colour lasting tan head. Deep malty brown malt aroma. Hides abv well. A warming dark malty beer. Ok. Bit one dimensional

Dark brown beer, head disippated straight away. Light nutty, malty aroma. Taste has malt, chocolate, a bit of kit, a hint of fruit. Rich, toasty finish. Looks rubbish but it's a good scotch ale once you start drinking it.

Can, 7.7%. Good malty aroma. Slightly roasted and nicely caramelly. Dark brown colour, seems clear. Small light brown head. The flavour is very malty, quite creamy. Slightly sweet. Does not taste much of alcohol. Creamy and papery finish.

Bottle from Village Beer Merchant. Brown coloured. Malty, caramel, candied sugar, fairly sweet, bit of smoke. So-so.

(bottle, 35.5cl) Dark brown colour with a beige and short foamy head. Moderately toasted malty aroma with nutty notes, chocolate, toffee and a whiff of booze. Moderately sweet and slightly bitter flavour, medium to full bodied bodied with a soft carbonation. Quite rounded and mildly toasted mix of chocolate, nuts and toffee/butterscotch sweetness; lasting sweet and slightly bitter finish with a warming alcoholic bite. Good. 20.II.18
