Named for a medieval Scottish sword, Claymore Scotch ale is a tribute to the legendary "Wee Heavy" beers of Scotland. A malty, deep-ruby-hued ale, it features a generous amount of caramel sweetness, a reserved hop profile and a subtle warming character, at 7.7% alcohol by volume. Claymore will be available in six-packs and on draft through mid-April.

Bottle at a tasting. Easy drinking black ale. Not much in way of roasty dark malts though, mostly colour. Overall very easy drinking, with rathe thin body.

Bottle kindly shared by Brewtalia, many thanks. Chestnut brown color with small tan head. Aroma of caramel malt, light chocolate. Sweet taste of caramel, chocolate, nougat. Good.

Pours dark cola brown with almost no head. Roasted and smokey aroma with caramel and some dark fruits. Taste is similar with some smoke, tar, caramel and dark fruits. A littel bit thin and syrupy.

Sample from the bottle at Olutexpo 2016, Helsinki. Colour is dark brown with small brownish head. Aromas and flavors: Chocolate, some dark fruits, sweetness and malts.

355ml bottle @Olutexpo 2016. Pours brown color with a thin white head. Bready malty, some molasses in aroma, some nuts. Flavor has bready malts, almonds, marzipan, sweetness. Long sweet finish. Good, but on the sweeter side .

Draught @ OlutExpo 2016. Pours dark reddish brown with a smooth head. Aroma of caramely malts, toffee, syrup, hints of coffee and roastiness. Taste is syrupy and bready with some caramely malts, mild hints of roastiness and toffee. Finish is sweetish and syrupy with some sticky notes. Sweet and sticky.

(Bottle, 0.355 l, at Bar Molotow, 20160919) The beer poured deep mahogany coloured and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had malts, caramel and molasses. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were malts, molasses, grass, sweetness, sugary sweetness and bitterness. Aftertaste was malty, sweet and bitter. A good brew spoilt by the excessive sweetness.

Tap at Great Divide. Orange-brown with lace. Full, sweet malt flavor, a bit of smoke of peat, a touch of soy. Caramel and chocolate of course. Decent, though not one of the best in this style.
