Our series of New-England saisons continues with Lineage Rye, a wild ale featuring Valley Malt Danko Rye. This Polish origin, locally grown and malted rye provides a subtle and balancing malt backbone to compliment the complex characteristics derived from aging in oak barrels, fermentation with our native New England mixed culture and well-aged hops.
Lineage Rye is medium in body and pours a deep, yellow-golden hue with engaging aromatics of wet hay and mild earth, spice, tart lemon peel and white wine. Following the nose, flavors of tart pink grapefruit flesh, white table grapes, funky must from the aged hops take the lead. Following mid palate with soft oaky vanilla intertwine with a supplementing bready, rye depth. Satisfying, structured oak barrel finish with lively carbonation. Lineage Rye will continue to age nicely in the bottle with its nuanced flavors continually evolving over time.

Bottle at Ardes residence, Helsinki. Color is slightly cloudy golden with small white head. Aromas and flavors Fruits: Fruits, citrus, grain, Wood, sourness... nice dry feelings...

(Bottle, 0.75 l - bottled on 16.11.2017, at Arde, 20220305) The beer poured golden and hazy. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had tartness, fruitiness, apricots and wood. Palate was medium bodied and dry with medium carbonation. Flavours were apricots, tartness, wood, malts, fruitiness and bitterness. Aftertaste was woody, tart and bitter. A delicious tart brew.

Sample during the Hoppin’ On Deck 4 tasting on 06/13/2020. Hazy gold color with a medium white head that recedes gradually to a film. Stringy lacing. Oaky aroma with funky yeast and fruit notes. Medium body with flavors of oak, Brett yeast, rye malt and mild floral hops. The finish is oaky with a yeast and spicy rye aftertaste. Good Saison all around.

Pours a hazy dark amber from a bottle, lots of white head. Not much aroma, but I’ve got a cold. Big tart flavor, but of a Manhattan aftertaste., slightly yeasty. Good beer.

Cloudy blond colour. Nice funky and citrusy aroma. Very dry and well carbonated mouthfeel with moderate acidity, mild white wine character, and citrus peel.
