This dangerously drinkable garnet beauty is a hop lover’s delight. The intense dry-hop nose and the alcohol content are perfectly balanced for a caramel malt backbone. This is a serious beer for serious beer aficionados. Oink!

(Bottle 65 cl) Beautiful, clear mahogany with a creamy, off-white head of somewhat rough structure. Incredibly flowery hop aroma. Loads of sweet, filling caramel malt and some fat, oily hops. Decent body with a pronounced hoppy finish. 181105

Ruby-amber color, small head. Dry oaky, grassy hoppy aroma - strong wood presence. Sweetish liquerish palate. Wood also in the flavor, late hoppyness in the finish. Full-bodied. Some licorice, but otherwise mostly sweet.

Bottle. Rich amber beer with a big off-white head. Nice caramel and rich malt aroma over citrus hops. Smooth malt flavor with citrus hops. Easy to drink. Alcohol present. Reminded me a bit of a wanna-be Bigfoot that wasn’t quite up to par.

An amber beer with a small light brown head. The aroma is grassy and hoppy. The flavor is very hoppy combined with notes of caramel. Nice Barley Wine with the alcohol really well hidden.

Pour is a deep red with almost no head. Aroma is of faint hops. Flavor is of faint hops and faint malts. Pretty weak overall. So many people rated this 4+ but I don’t get it. I guess cellering this many bring out more to this brew but i found it average at best.

Avery products have only recently become available in my area and this is the first of their products that I have had the opportunity to try. Sampled from a 22 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy chestnut color with only a minimal tan head. There is a strong hop fragrance that assaults the nose before the glass can even be picked up. The flavor is very hoppy - strong with grapefruit. The beer is surprisingly sweet for being such a hoppy beverage. There is a little malt detectable but the hops really dominate. This beer really reminded me of some of the products from Stone brewing. Almost half way between an Arrogant Bastard and a Double Bastard in flavor. Intense.

Quite some roses in the nose. Brown amber, low head. Fruit, orangepeel, earth and spice. A bit harsh - not completely harmonious IMO.

Lightlly hazy reddish amber with off-white head. Sweet lemon and raisins aroma, with pinous resinour overtones. Hops come out as beer warm up. Very hoppy and resinous tatse, with lots of malt sweetness in the end. The hops become more complex as the beer warms up. A cross between an IPA and a BW. Good stuff. Thanks to the Cap!
