This dangerously drinkable garnet beauty is a hop lover’s delight. The intense dry-hop nose and the alcohol content are perfectly balanced for a caramel malt backbone. This is a serious beer for serious beer aficionados. Oink!

Dark redish amber with a frothy head. Soapy aroma. Luckily it tastes better than it smells: yes, there is a touch of soap there but it’s soon overpowered by caramell, raisins and a long hoppy bitterness. I must say that I really love American Barely Wines (should be a style on their own).

Bottle. Powerful, but balanced aroma. Nice and teaish. Almost clear nut brown colour. Good bitterness. Tough, but fair.

Bottle: Poured a clear amber color ale with a small foamy head with minimal retention. Aroma of caramel sweet malt is omnipresent with some citrus hops. Taste is a mix between sweet caramel malt and some bitter hops. Alcohol is way too hot for my liking and body is definitely too thin for the style. I’m starting to wonder if it’s just me or are most of Avery beers a bit too hot for their own good.

Poured a deep rich inviting clear copper color with a thick near white head. Aroma has the floral/piney hops as well as a hint of malt. While still cold no alcohol was present in the aroma. Taste is an excellent chewy balance between malt sweetness and hop flavor and bitterness. At this point (second sip) seems very well balanced and very drinkable. Not much alcohol detected. A really nice beer.

Bottle. Sweet grapefruit aroma primarily - slight hint of peach. Dark amber color with small head. Initial taste of slightly sweet grapefruit followed by peach and malt and finishing with a strong hops kick - extremely well blended with really no indication of the alcohol level which I think makes this a great beer. An extremely well made barley wine with other flavors not being overwhelmed by hops or alcohol.

Bottled.Oh, yeah, got the big Columbus hops smell right off the bat (meaning it’s a young BW). Big american BW with cirusy hops over a fuity malt mouthful. We also caught some suggestions of mint and Earl Grey tea (bergamont). A huge beer, but somehow smooth.

Reddish-brown in colour. Small white head. Very hoppy aroma and hints of malt in the background. Flavor of hops, more hops that i am used to in barleywine. But the hops is well balanced with the malt. Nice warming bitter-sweet finish.
