A nose of coffee, roasted malts and piney hops. This medium-bodied stout has a broad depth of maltiness and a clean, dry finish.

Draft at Sugar Maple. Pitch black. Rusty beige head. Smooth and rich. FFF packs in the chocolate and still keeps it balanced. Rich and roasty, lot of specialty malt. Excellent, nails it like FFF often does. Medium to full bodied, but quite sessionable. Mossy finish. Right on.

Bottle via a trade. Pours with a black body and a lasting tan head. Aromas are roast, floral, chocolate, tobacco, rich, lightly vinous, hickory, dark currants, fudge, milk chocolate. A lot going on for a smaller beer. Flavors of tobacco, earthy, ashy, chocolate covered raisins, tar, iodine, and biscottis. Medium bubbles, medium bodied, creamy. Tasty. A really awesome dry stout.

I opened the bottle and got a good whiff of the aroma and wondered, "Did I buy an IPA by mistake?" No, the bottle says it’s a stout. Pours a nice, dark, black like a stout, with small, white head. Strong piney, hop aroma and hop flavor that makes this one of the most IPA-like stouts I’ve ever had. It’s interesting, but I wonder just a bit if they have any other tricks up their sleeve (see the wheat beer, Gumballhead, that also tastes more like an IPA). Guess I’ll have to get my hands on a Dark Lord some time.

Enjoyed at a good friends house prior to going to dinner before the busy holiday weekend. It was either this or the Mikkeller imperial IPA, and I’m glad we went with this. Appearance pure black, rather bubbly with a coffee-like tan rich head. Aroma grassy, pine cone hoppy with a bit of malt in there. Taste of rich chocolate malt, plenty of hops, bit of lactose. Really, this is a crazy hoppy stout.

Bottle from a trade with phaleslu. Pours black with light brown head. Roasted malt and chocolate aromas with a big dose of citrus hops. Roasted malts and citrus hops flavors with a hint of smokiness. Medium body with soft carbonation and a silky mouthfeel. A very intersting brew. Thanks Peter.

Bottle thanks to Overml01. Pours dark black with small tan head. Nose is licorice and chocolate. Taste is one of the best licorice-centric stouts I’ve ever had. Subtleties include chocolate, caramel, toffee and roasted malts.
